Episode 7 will take the group closer to Native American land, implying that more suffering is on the way. “Lightning Yellow Hair” is the title of the new episode. Is that a hint to Elsa? Is there going to be anything between Carlton and Elsa? Her flirting back is most likely a means for her to convey that she has accepted Ennis’ death.
James and Margaret’s squabbles are reasonable, but they have a strong family foundation that will not be shattered by a drunken brawl. As the show enters the second half of its season, the love story between Noemi (Gratiela Brancusi) and Thomas (LaMonica Garrett) in 1883 is coming into focus. The bond between Thomas and Noemi will surely produce problems. Will he put his life on the line to save her? Yes, almost probably at some time, albeit perhaps not this week. 1883 Episode 6 Recap
In the back of a wagon, Elsa is inconsolable. She’s heartbroken. Shea inquires about Elsa with James. While the gang crosses another river and looks to approach Indian country, Shea helps Elsa cope with the loss of Ennis, while Thomas gives Noemi a gift. In this episode, one love ended and another grew. They come across a little town on the outskirts of Texas. The trip to town allowed one of the Duttons to relax and unwind, but it came at a price for others. Ennis’ death had a significant negative impact on Elsa’s health. Later, while wailing in the back of the wagon, she notices that she is bleeding. She informs Margaret that she requires some privacy due to the fact that she has started her menstruation. Shea approaches her as she sits at Ennis’ grave, a revolver in her hand, most likely considering suicide. He knows how she feels because he went through the same thing when his wife and daughter died of smallpox.
At this time, Shea delivers a heartfelt speech in which he informs her that when someone you love dies, a bit of them lives on in you and that she will always have a piece of Ennis with her. In the meantime, Thomas eventually admits his emotions for Noemi. When she asks him to, he takes her late husband’s stuff into town to pawn them and buys her a gleaming hand mirror from Paris as a present. He also employs Cookie, a cook portrayed by James Jordan, who later plays livestock agent Steve Hendon in Yellowstone, to accompany the group until they arrive in Oregon. He gives Noemi the gift later that night. She then convinces him that he is in love with her and has been unaware of it until she confronts him with his sentiments. She then tells him that he is the one who is afraid, not her, because she removed her clothes and approached him naked. They kiss and spend the night together after that.
Breakfast is shared by Neomi and Thomas. They are holding hands. She has no intention of letting him go. She also doesn’t want him to address her as mam any longer. When they arrive in the small town of Doan’s crossing, Margaret separates from the others and enters the shop. Carolyn, the business owner, is played by Rita Wilson. After they hit it off, they spend the rest of the day having fun, getting drunk, and passing out. Margaret is eventually returned to the camp when James arrives to pick up his wife. The group recruited a chef and a new cowboy Colton to ride with them at Doan’s Crossing. Colton, played by Noah Le Gross, is also introduced, and he joins the party with Cookie. He is smitten by Elsa, as was his predecessor Ennis, whom he replaces on the route. After first exhibiting no interest, she ends up calling him a pretty boy towards the end of the episode. The crew then faces a challenge that will most likely take all day to complete: successfully crossing a treacherous river. It’s time to cross the river into Indian territory and embark on an adventure into the unknown.
