On ‘9-1-1: Lone Star,’ who plays Tommy’s brother-in-law Julius?
When 9-1-1: Lone Star returns, Tommy Vega receives an unexpected visit from a family member. Tommy’s brother-in-law Julius will appear on April 18, 2022. When Tommy’s husband Charles (played by Derek Webster) was murdered in Season 2, fans (and Tommy) were devastated, leaving her a widow and their two children without a father. He wasn’t the first husband or ex-spouse to perish in a horrible accident. Gwyn Morgan (Lisa Edelstein), Owen Strand’s ex-wife and mother of his son, was also written off in Season 3 of 9-1-1: Lone Star by having her die. The members of the 126 have a hard time finding happy spouses! On ‘9-1-1: Lone Star,’ who portrays Tommy’s brother-in-law Julius? Meet Nathan Owens.
Why does Julius have such a familiar appearance?
Nathan Owens, an actor, and model who has been in several cult popular TV shows plays Julius Vega. He appeared as Ocean, the pseudo-brother of Safiyah Sohail, in the second season of The CW’s Batwoman. Ocean survived 11 episodes of mayhem before being discovered dead by Alice and later appearing as one of her hallucinations.
Prior to that, he starred in the Lifetime soap drama Devious Maids. Jesse Morgan, the show’s first male maid, was played by the 38-year-old actor in Seasons 3 and 4. He had a relationship with Marisol Suarez, the primary character (played by Ana Ortiz). Nathan’s TV career began when he played (the second) Cameron Davis on Days of Our Lives from 2012 to 2013, appearing in 152 episodes. Fans of music videos may recognise him from collaborations with Rihanna (“California King Bed”) and Nicki Minaj (“Va Va Voom”).
Why is Julius, Charles’ brother, reappearing in Tommy’s life?
Tommy doesn’t have time for Julius’s drama when she has two kids to raise and lives to save, so Owens’ role on 9-1-1: Lone Star will be a lot less flirty and a lot more serious. In episode 13, Tommy went on her first date after her husband’s death. Will Morris, played by Amaury Nolasco, turn out to be a long-term love interest or simply a clumsy one-episode date. In the following episode, “Impulse Control,” Julius appears. After arriving in Austin for some gigs, musician Julius will show up to surprise Tommy and her twin daughters, Izzy and Evie, at the girls’ birthday party. While his nieces are overjoyed to see him. Tommy is not amused. Tommy hasn’t spoken to him since he didn’t show up at Charles’ funeral. Will Julius be able to explain himself to Tommy, or will he be turned down?
Nathan Owens is listed as a recurring guest star, implying that Julius will appear in more than one episode. It would be nice if she could help Tommy with the kids, or even with his feelings as she deals with the aftermath of Charles’ death. Either that will make his life more complicated. Only time will tell this.
