When students begin to transfer schools, Jacob, Ava and Melissa invite the leader of the charter school organization to Abbott and ask him to take down the ad. Elsewhere, Janine and Gregory talk about Janine’s relationship with Tariq.

Abbott Elementary’s Halloween-costumed teachers greet pupils. When Erika, an old high school acquaintance, drops off her nephew, one of Janine’s kids, she is taken aback. Janine rejects Erika’s invitation to a Halloween party that evening, saying she already has plans. But she is lying. She has discovered that all of their pals were more his than hers since she broke up with Tariq. Amber, another adult, tries to give Janine’s students chocolates. Candy needs to wait until the end of the day, says Janine, who stops her. Erika’s nephew, who is dressed as Thanos, is the person who is most upset. Then Amber gives Janine a second bag of chocolates to deliver to Gregory. Gregory says he won’t take it because he doesn’t like candy. Janine independently opens it and discovers Amber’s phone number inside. Ashley is tasked with watching after the large bag of sweets that the schools have. However, she is so disinterested in her profession that she barely notices the youngsters coming in and out.
Mr. Johnson suspects that the youngsters in the school may have gotten into the candy when they all suddenly exhibit extreme hyperactivity and disobedience. The bag Ashley was supposed to be watching over has really vanished. The educators determine that they must control the children, so they collect them in the gym. One child, however—Thanos—eludes them. He also still has the candy bag. Gregory and Janine keep watch in front of the gym. Janine uses the chance to provide Gregory Amber’s number even though it is obvious that she doesn’t want to. She also dodges Gregory’s question about her social life outside of work. The educators then make the decision that they must find Thanos. Janine, Barbara, and Melissa conduct a hallway search while Gregory and Jacob enter the cellar. Jacob is ultimately scared by Mr. Johnson, who Jacob mistakenly believes to be the ghost of the janitor. Janine is encouraged to start anew and find new acquaintances by Barbara and Melissa in the meantime. In the end, Thanos is not located by a teacher. It’s another child in a Mr. Johnson costume. The other teachers seize the sweets once he introduces Thanos to them. Janine agrees to Erika’s invitation to attend the party when she comes to pick up her nephew. She’s a little more eager to start fresh now.
