ABC’s ‘The Rookie’ Returns for a Seventh Season

ABC’s hit cop drama “The Rookie” has been renewed for a seventh season, continuing the thrilling adventures of John Nolan and his team at the LAPD.

The announcement comes after the show’s most popular season since 2018 (sixth season). John Nolan, played by Nathan Fillion, is the oldest rookie in LAPD history. He joined the force when he was 40 years old. Mekia Cox, Alyssa Diaz, Richard T. Jones, Melissa O’Neil, Eric Winter, Jenna Dewan, Shawn Ashmore, Tru Valentino, and Lisseth Chavez are some of the skilled actors in the show.

Due to strikes across the whole business in 2023, Season 6 didn’t start in the fall as planned, but instead on February 20. Even though it was late, the premiere was a success, with 11.9 million people across all platforms in the Live+35 ratings and a 2.9 rating among adults 18–49.

The official summary for Season 6 sounds like it will be even more exciting: “John Nolan was once the LAPD’s oldest rookie. But he has kept up with rookies 20 years his junior by being determined and having a good sense of fun. Nolan thinks things can’t get any better now that he has chosen a job and his relationship with Bailey (Dewan) is moving forward. But before they can move on, he and his team need to deal with the effects of the recent attacks.

Most of ABC’s written shows have been picked up for the 2024–2025 season, and “The Rookie” is now one of those shows. But fans of “The Good Doctor” and “Station 19 should get ready to say goodbye, because the current seasons of these shows are the last ones.

For “The Rookie,” what’s next? Fans can look forward to more exciting cases, personal challenges, and the friendly banter that has made the show so popular. With its revival, “The Rookie” remains an important part of ABC’s lineup, with its compelling stories and interesting characters.
