In Agatha All Along Episode 7, we go deeper into the Witches’ Road, a place where magic and danger meet. Lilia Calderu, played by Patti LuPone, is at the center of this episode. What happens to her is one of the biggest mysteries on the show by the end. But is Lilia really dead, or is there more to her story?
At the start of the episode, Billy Maximoff reluctantly teams up with Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) again. As they get closer to the end of the Witches’ Road, their test takes them to a scary castle full of tarot cards and traps that can kill them. Lilia and Jennifer Kale (Zoe Terakes), who were earlier attacked by Billy, are still alive but stuck in the dark, muddy tunnels below the Witches’ Road.
Lilia’s mind starts to break down in this episode, which makes the atmosphere tense. She has trouble remembering things from her childhood— which makes her worry that her journey may be coming to an end. We learn more about Lilia’s past and her time with her first coven as she and Jen make their way through their dangerous surroundings. Lisa’s memories come and go from the present, making it clear that she is going through her toughest test yet.
Agatha All Along Episode 7: “Is Livia Really Dead?”
Over the course of the episode, it becomes clear that Lilia has the next trial, not Billy. As her memories start to change, she uses what she knows about tarot cards to help her get through the trial and keep the deadly swords from falling on her coven. Because Lilia is brave, she tells Agatha, Billy, and Jen that they need to leave the castle to avoid the danger that is coming. Lilia closes the door behind them, which makes it seem like she’s ready to give up everything.
Lilia tricks the Salem Seven into a trap in the last few seconds. If she flips the Tower Reversed card over, the castle flips over and the Seven fall into the swords above. Lilia holds on for a while but she gives up in the end. In a strange scene, she is taken back to her childhood and reads tea leaves with the motherly figure from her first coven.
Fans aren’t sure if Lilia is really gone after this scene. Her death is heavily hinted at in the show, with her death protecting her coven, but her life and powers seem to go beyond time and space. Lilia going back to her childhood could be a sign of a never-ending cycle of life and death, or it could mean that she is still on the Witches’ Road.
Because Lilia seems to be dead, the episode has more emotional weight, but fans can’t help but wonder if there’s more to her story. Lilia might come back in a later episode, but have they taken one of the most powerful witches for good?
