In the last episode of Alert: Missing Persons Unit, one of the teens who didn’t have a place to live, Maya, was taken, sending the team on a mad dash to find her. Alert: Missing Persons Unit Season 2 Episode 4 Recap
In this episode, two homeless teens are helped by a Drag Queen who watches out for them while they go to the club to retrieve some leftover food. Later, Maya, one of the teens, is taken while she is walking alone. Mike is teaching young people in basketball at the same time that Nikki brings them pizza. Nicole and Mike are asked to help a friend of Maya’s.
Maya’s friend Jax tells Mike and Jason where she was last seen. They find drugs and pictures of Maya with her lover in her backpack. The team finds out that Maya is from New Jersey and used to go by a different name. A scary basement wakes Maya up. She is chained to a bed and has a camera on her.
The team sends out a warning for Maya and calls her parents, who don’t seem interested. They tell them that Maya has run away more than once before. Kemi goes up to Maya’s parents and tells them how upset she is. They get knowledge from a shelter for the homeless, Mike and Jay.
On the nightstand, Maya finds a list of names that she thinks are the names of past victims. Mike and Jay get dressed up to meet a drug dealer, but someone finds out about their plan. This causes a chase, and Skit is arrested. The sketch shows that Maya bought Xanax from them to help her mental health.
Caitlin, who might be Maya’s girlfriend, tells Kemi that Maya came to her door asking to stay but left when she saw that Caitlin wasn’t there. The team learns that Maya worked at a bar where the owner helps kids who are homeless.
Hollis goes to see Mike and makes it sound like Mike needs to get rid of Jason to move up in his job. Kemi’s study shows that 190 kids are missing in Pennsylvania. Canary finds some kids who have gone missing. The team learns that Maya’s kidnapper wants to sell her online.
They find the kidnapper to be Richard, a bartender who is telling everyone about Maya’s captivity. They shut down Richard’s site with Wayne’s help and shot Richard as he tried to attack Maya to save her just in time.
Kemi is mad that Maya’s parents picked her up because she knows what Maya is going through. Maya says she changed her name because Maya Angelou did. Nikki meets Jay in secret and tells him that someone has admitted to setting off the bomb, but Jay is not sure what they said. At the end of the show, there are still unanswered questions and tensions, which sets the stage for what will happen next.
