ALL AMERICAN SEASON 6 EPISODE 9 RECAP

At the start of the show, Spencer is having a bad dream in which he is stuck on the field while a dead Crenshaw player named Shawn Scott screams at him. Olivia, who is always there for him, tells him to figure out the dream to calm down before the national final.  In order to get clarity, Spencer goes on a moving trip that takes him back to the football fields of his youth. Olivia, meanwhile, is in a tough spot because her editor wants her to write about her dad’s affair or lose the deal.
To clear his thoughts, Spencer goes back to the Pee-Wee field where he started playing football and thinks about how his mother cheered him on as a child. After that, he went to Beverly High and South Crenshaw High.  Grace’s thoughtful gift—a copy of all the fields he’s played on with room for his future NFL team—shows how much he values his family and roots.
Spencer runs into old friend Chris Jackson at Billy Baker Field in Crenshaw. While they are there, Spencer has deep talks that help him face his deepest fears and doubts.  Spencer realizes that his anxiety about the upcoming NCAA championship game is caused by the huge pressure he feels to do well, not just for himself but for everyone in the Crenshaw community. Chris, in particular, acts as a guide light for Spencer.
Spencer finds out that his dream is about how scared he is about the big game and how sad he is that he has to leave his current life for the NFL when he meets Jordan and Asher at the Beverly High field. The turning point is when Coop repeats a phrase from Spencer’s dreams, not knowing what it means. This leads to a discovery. Spencer knows that Shawn showing up in his dreams was a way for him to deal with his emotional problems head-on and get ready for the difficulties that are to come.
Layla works on her therapy while planning a party for GAU to celebrate their title. Jordan tells her to put her mental health ahead of the party, but Layla thinks he’s pulling away.
When Coop looks into Miko’s sealed arrest record, he finds a possibly troubling past that makes him wonder about Miko’s character. Even though people have warned her not to, Coop is still determined to find the truth.
The most exciting part of the show is the championship game between Golden Angeles and Coastal California. Asher going back to the field even though his boss told him not to. In the last seconds of a nail-biting game, he gets back on the field and scores an amazing touchdown, which gives Coastal the lead.  The clever plays that Coach Kenny makes make the game more intense. Spencer’s leadership is clear as he leads his team to victory, which ends with a touchdown that wins the game and secures the title for GAU.
At the same time, other people deal with their own problems. Asher chooses to stop playing football because he is happy with his life outside of football. Olivia isn’t sure if she should include Billy Baker’s relationship with Grace in his book. After the game, she turns down her publisher’s request to keep her father’s name alive.
Layla plans a surprise wedding on the spur of the moment because she is afraid of getting married. She thought she was a burden in her relationship with Jordan at first, but Jordan’s help made her understand how important it is to be ready and committed. As Jordan and Layla talk about their relationship, they stress the importance of open conversation and helping each other out.
Olivia moving in with Spencer at the end of the show is a hopeful sign of a new start in their lives. Spencer’s offer for Olivia to move in is a sign of hope for the future. Because he’s focused on the NFL draft, their future isn’t clear, but one thing is for sure: he loves Olivia and wants their relationship to work. Episode 9 of Season 6 of “All American” is a moving look at the past, a celebration of growth, and an exciting show of how strong community and persistence can be.
