Tarcisio “Taz” Ramos Dos Santos focuses on improving his shelter and sets up a second gillnet to catch fish. He decides to switch tactics and go big game hunting because the fish have since relocated to deeper seas. After a few unsuccessful efforts, he finally hits a grouse and becomes optimistic about his chances of succeeding.
Lack of protein causes Mikey Hilton (32 years old ) to have sleeplessness. He manages to hunt a grouse by concentrating on finding food. Playing games and composing a loving letter to his wife while in the shelter, he expresses his love for her and his desire to win the award for his family.
Despite several difficulties, James Wyatt Black successfully catches a lake trout with his fishing net. He smokes the fish, giving him enough sustenance for ten days. Wyatt’s shelter stands up well in the face of heavy gusts, and he is still confident about his chances of winning the contest.
Alan Tenta (51 years old) keeps catching fish and has a plentiful supply of food. In order to store his catch for the long term, he constructs a smoker. But a storm derails his plans, and as he waits for the weather to clear, he grows impatient and bored.
Foraging for reindeer moss and berries, Melanie Sawyer constructs a wind wall around her fire pit. She finds a sizable blueberry patch and decides to go back to harvest them in the future. Melanie is resolute and tapes a message for her fiance in spite of the inclement weather, showing her love and her will to persevere. All five survivalists are still competing at the end of the episode.
