Archer Season 13 Episode 6 Recap
As per usual, “Bank Run” begins with Fabian giving The Agency his assignment for the week. This week, a standard, everyday bank heist is the mission assigned to our brave band of semi-superspies. With the help of a sizable bribe, Fabian’s protestations that Archer and company are actually spies rather than bank thieves are simply dismissed, thereby releasing our heroes from the bureaucratic tyranny of IIA. The gang agrees to participate in a bank robbery after being suitably persuaded and hearing Ray praise both the simplicity and the difficulty of the job. Lana and Cyril are trapped inside the vault prevents both their attempts to flee as well as Lana’s attempts to contact her attorney to make plans for an approaching custody court for A.J. Cyril, on the other hand, primarily has to deal with claustrophobia and being confined in a space with a displeased woman who practically detests him. Krieger is trapped in the vents, where his futile attempts to get past the security lasers within provide a terrible running gag throughout the thirty minutes. Ray is undercover, and although Pam and Archer both have some freedom, they are both trapped in their own minds. All of Pam’s fears are skillfully handled and amicably addressed, including a brief chat.
Speaking of, Lana is still struggling with the idea that almost nothing she does on a daily basis would be acceptable to a family court judge; her scenes with Cyril in the vault are primarily about exposing her legal problems, but she grabs her lawyer—well, friend who is a lawyer—and has to hide the fact that she’s a bank robber now. Ray’s covert operations, which pair him with an ageing bank security guard (Bonita Hamilton) who has some highly convoluted views on money, aliens, and narcotics, are more comically successful. Susan, the bank guard, adds a lot of fun to the episode’s energy, especially as Archer joins in as the fictitious Mr. Bank. But in the end, the gang recognises they need a little assistance to pull off their heist.
