The third Sergeant Tyrone Hassel was born in Benton Harbor, Michigan, on August 23, 1995. His parents are Tyrone Hassel Jr. and LaShanda Jones. He grew up in Benton Harbor and went to Benton Harbor Area Schools, where he did very well in school and also did many things outside of school. He finished high school with honors in 2013 and then went to Grand Valley State University to study Mechanical Engineering.
One of the most important things Tyrone did in 2015 was join the US Army. He did so well there that he was awarded the Army Achievement Medal and the German Army Proficiency Badge. He worked hard for his country and finished a nine-month tour in South Korea. He became a Sergeant on October 31, 2017.
Tyson met and fell in love with Specialist Kemia Martin, who was also in the service, while he was in the Army. They got married on May 17, 2017, and their son, Tyrone Hassel IV, was born that same day. In Hinesville, GA, where the family lived, Kemia worked as a truck driver and Tyrone fixed wheels.
People said that Tyrone was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and hero. He had a lively personality and liked taking care of his dogs, playing sports, and hanging out with his family and friends. On December 31, 2018, he died too soon. He was 23 years old.

On New Year’s Eve 2018, tragedy struck when Tyrone Hassel III was shot and killed outside of his Michigan home with his father. He was there at the time with his wife Kemia Hassel and their young son. When the killing happened, Kemia, who was inside the house at the time, called 911 in a panic.

After being caught, Kemia Hassel was charged with first-degree premeditated murder and plot to commit first-degree murder. Kemia claimed that she was having an affair with Cuellar and told Cuellar in detail how they planned and carried out the murder of her husband.
Kemia was given a life sentence without the chance of release in August 2019 for her part in killing Tyrone. Cuellar was given a prison term of 65 to 90 years after pleading guilty to second-degree murder. Even though she was found guilty, Kemia still says she is innocent, saying that Cuellar forced her to take part in the murder plan.
