“Bad Faith,” the most recent episode of Blue Bloods, showed Erin leading a government investigation into shady horse racing while Jamie looked into a drug trafficking operation involving rival gangs. Blue Bloods Season 14 Episode 5: Recap
At the beginning of the episode, Jamie is looking into a crime involving Marcus Carter, a member of the Los Pelotas gang. Jamie thinks that drugs were used to commit the murder because Marcus’s car had a secret drug compartment that was empty. In order to question Derek, one of the leaders of the rival gang the Savage Rascals, Jamie turns his attention to them. But Derek says he has nothing to do with the crime.
Jamie thinks the Savage Rascals are to blame, even though there isn’t much proof, so he chooses to keep a close eye on them. His lieutenant is against him because he won’t give them any tools to watch the gang. Still not giving up, Jamie takes things into his own hands and does his own investigation, which leads to the killer being caught.
At the same time, Danny and Baez find out that Chris Tran, the leader of the Asian Royals Bloods, is running a security racket in Little Vietnam. They also find out that Sonny, an old friend of Danny’s, is part of the plan. Danny gets Sonny to help him catch Tran by having him wear a wire during their meeting. This leads to Tran’s arrest.
In a separate plot, Erin deals with the complicated world of horse racing while looking into claims of wrongdoing. Powerful people in the business are against her, but she is still determined to find the truth. The Brotherhood of Teamsters, on the other hand, comes up to Frank and wants to get NYPD cops to join their union. Frank is torn between the possible benefits of joining a strong union and the effects it would have on the NYPD’s freedom.
