BOSCH: LEGACY [BROKEN ORDER] RECAP: SEASON 3 EPISODE 6 – EXPLAINED

Bosch: Legacy Season 3 continues to unravel a gripping tale of justice, power, and deception. In these next two episodes, the stakes have never been higher. Taylor Welliver and Maddie Bosch (Madison Lintz) are in dangerous territory in Episode 5, while Chandler Rogers (Mimi Rogers) fights her own political battles. Then, Episode 6 completely changes the situation. It’s been a month since Paul Calderon killed Jimmy Robertson, and the effects are still being felt. The fight for justice gets even more brutal as the LAPD tries to find answers and tensions rise.

The full breakdown of both episodes awaits—read on.

BOSCH: LEGACY [S3xE5] RECAP: “F***ing Politics”

The previous episode left viewers stunned with the murder of Detective Jimmy Robertson. It began with Harry Bosch (Titus Welliver) standing outside the Gallagher office, reeling from Sheila Walsh’s (Dale Dickey) murder, convinced that the Gallagher family’s disappearance, Finbar McShane’s (Michael Reilly Burke) involvement, and the city’s corruption were all interconnected.

Rita Tedesco, played by Juliet Landau, was hiding while the police closed in on Preston Borders, played by Chris Browning. A burner phone that was found under Bosch’s house pointed to bigger plots. Police Detective Robertson, who was friends with Bosch, fought against corruption in politics while trying to clear Bosch’s name. However, the District Attorney wouldn’t let him go free before the election.

Maddie Bosch and Officer Reyna Vasquez (Denise G. Sanchez) tracked a stolen purse, leading them to a robbery crew whose actions were escalating. Tension reached new heights when Reina discovered her nephew was part of the criminal gang. At the same time, Harry and Mo (Stephen Chang) found something very scary: the whole Gallagher family that had gone missing had been buried in a remote place. While Bosch was thinking about how horrible what he had seen was, Honey Chandler found out about a political scandal involving a local councilman. This showed how deeply corrupt things were in Los Angeles.

Detective Robertson was killed while getting tacos, which was a shocking emotional ending to the episode and a turning point in the fight for justice.

BOSCH: LEGACY SEASON 3 EPISODE 6 RECAP – “BROKEN ORDER”

The episode starts with a very well planned sting operation. Volunteers give food to homeless people in downtown Los Angeles. When a man named Diego Perra asks for two sandwiches, he sets off a trap without meaning to. Within seconds, SWAT teams swarmed the area and arrested Perra as the person they think killed Detective Jimmy Robertson.

At a press conference, Honey Chandler tells the crowd that the person who killed Robertson has been caught. Harry, Maddie, and Robertson’s girlfriend watch the news with them in a bar. They raise a glass to their friend who died, but Harry is still not sure. There needs to be justice, but only if the right person is found guilty.

As Chandler tries to build a strong case, problems start to show up. Perra’s previous thefts were not violent, which makes the way he killed Robertson seem out of character. Perra is put in a holding cell with a fake police officer to confirm their suspicions. Perra says he is innocent and has only admitted to robbing people but strongly denies having anything to do with the murder.

Later, Chandler’s lawyer shows him surveillance footage that shows Perra getting home drunk the night of the murder, and then another man who hasn’t been identified leaving soon after. The new information creates a good reason to doubt. Chandler talks to Harry about it, and Harry agrees that the case is tough. He says, “If this isn’t airtight, we shouldn’t move forward.” But it’s hard to back out now that political pressure is building.

BOSCH: LEGACY [GOES WHEE IT GOES] RECAP: SEASON 3 EPISODE 1 EXPLAINED

VASQUEZ FACES A DEVASTATING REVELATION

In other news, Maddie and Vasquez are still looking into a group of thieves who are linked to recent crimes. They find Fortune (Andrea Cortes) who is an important member of the group, and threaten to tell her family about her involvement if she doesn’t stop. Fortune doesn’t seem to be affected, but it’s clear that the meeting has shook her up.

After that, Maddie and Vasquez follow Fortune’s phone to a park, where she meets with a friend to talk about how to hide their crimes. What’s the shocking turn? The person is Vasquez’s nephew. She looks scared, but she doesn’t want to say anything about his involvement.

Vasquez later talks to her nephew alone because she feels torn between duty and family loyalty. She tells him that she won’t name the other suspect in her report because she wants to prioritize her family over justice, which is a painful realization that will surely stay with her.

HARRY BOSCH’S NEVER-ENDING SEARCH FOR JUSTICE

Harry still doesn’t believe the case against Perra, so he goes to see Siobhan (Orla Brady), the grandmother of the Gallagher family who were killed. She is getting ready to leave Los Angeles and tells Bosch that the city has no more use for her. She says in a sad voice, “There’s nothing left for me here.” Siobhan knows that Bosch has done everything he could to help. Bosch is still not happy. He tells himself, “I haven’t done everything yet.” He is determined to find out the whole truth.

THE SEARCH FOR THE REAL KILLER CONTINUES

As the episode’s climax draws near, Bosch’s never-ending search for justice takes him down a dangerous path. He starts to look into the problems with Perra’s arrest more closely because he thinks the real killer is still out there. He is getting more and more sure that Robertson’s death was not just an act of violence that happened by chance; it was planned.

At the same time, Maddie starts to think about her own role in law enforcement because she is still dealing with the shadow of her father. She thinks about how her father is willing to risk everything for the truth and whether she is as sure of herself.

When things look like they might be getting better, Bosch gets a tip that leads him to a new suspect. He quickly runs to a dark alley and finds an important piece of evidence: a discarded gun that looks just like the one that was used to kill Robertson. As he turns the corner, he sees a dark figure watching him.

As the episode comes to a close, Bosch looks into the unknown and realizes that the fight is far from over.

Season 3 of Bosch: Legacy keeps pulling apart its complicated web of crime, corruption, and personal loss. “Broken Order” doesn’t give us any clear answers. It makes us wonder what will happen next and how justice will be served. Will Bosch find the real bad guy? What else is he ready to risk to find out the truth?
