Cabinet of Curiosities Episode 7 ‘The Viewing’ Recap
The events take place on Saturday, September 22, 1979, in the evening. One of the wealthiest men in the world, Lionel, invited four professionals in their fields: Guy Landon (Steve Agee), one of the greatest authors of the time, Charlotte (Charlyne Yi), an astrophysicist, Randall Roth (Eric André), a well-known singer. Targ Reinhard (Michael Therriault) was a well-known psychic. they meet at a parking facility before they are taken to the home of the billionaire Lionel Lassiter (Peter Weller) by a man named Hector (Saad Siddiqui). As they travel, the four guests try to glean as much information as they can about their host, but Hector, who likely serves as the security for the billionaire, doesn’t say much. The visitors acknowledge that they are an intriguing group of folks to mix with. They correctly infer that they were chosen because of how their occupations connect to what they are expected to see. Lionel speaks to his visitors throughout the evening, providing commentary on each of their works and freely expressing his respect for them. As the evening goes on, the visitors try to understand why they were invited to the home, but neither Lionel nor his two staff speaks. As the guests begin to relax because of the flow of the conversation, they start to speak about their personal fears.
Randall is afraid that his next album will flop, while Targ seems to have a constant need to prove his intelligence, which likely stems from his work. Unlike the musician, author, and astrophysicist in the room, he earns money by lying to people. One can argue that the authors are also liars, but the people they target are in on the entire scheme. We hear more about Lionel and the other visitors, but Lionel is particularly interested in Randall writing music for him. He smokes pot and cocaine to loosen Randall and the other guests, who are recovering addicts. Zahra is already there, lounging on one of the seats. After a slew of drugs, Lionel reveals that his guests have been invited to help uncover a riddle that has confused him and all the specialists. Lionel walks them inside the Obelisk chamber and challenges them to identify the space rock in the center. Randall wants to smoke, but Lionel forbids it. But after extinguishing the cigarette, Randall picks up marijuana, and Lionel cautions him once more.
Cabinet of Curiosities Episode 7 Recap: What happened to four guests?
Randall is surprised when the rock absorbs his last joint of smoke. Later, the rock glows faintly. As everyone admires the weird item. soon starts to produce a frequency that starts to pain some people, with the exception of Zahari (Sofia Boutella), who appears to enjoy the sound. However, the smoke is absorbed into the rock, and it starts to crack, and a yellow and hideous monster emerges. Everyone is taken into a trance by the weird creature, but some who can’t handle its strength, like Guy and Targ, have their heads melted by the intensity. Zahari approaches the thing, but when she touches it, her flesh disintegrates from her bones, killing her horribly.
Cabinet of Curiosities Episode 7 Recap: Are Charlotte and Randall alive?
Charlotte (Charlyne Yi) and Randall (Eric André) are the only two survivors of the incident. The deaths of Guy and Targ, however, cause the others’ trance to be broken, which makes Charlotte and Randall panic and attempt to flee. Hector frees Charlotte and Randall in the meantime, but because they are both high, fleeing is more difficult for them than it should be. They drive off from Lionel’s house in a sports car. While driving fast, the two experience drug-induced hallucinations but manage to escape and reach safety. The latter drives the car at full speed, desperate to put as much distance as she can between herself and the monster she just saw.
Cabinet of Curiosities Episode 7 Recap: Is Hector Dead?
Returning to the chamber with his golden Avtomat Kalashnikova, Hector finds Lionel and the beast in their hideous united form. Hector shoots the hybrid in an attempt to kill it, but the bullets simply slide through it untouched like a thick liquid. Hector confronts the monster with the golden 47 rifles that we see throughout the episode, but the bullets don’t have any effect on the creature, and he is vaporized by the hybrid, which generates electricity with the tendrils on its back. as the result, Hector is killed for his efforts.
Why did Lionel not flee? Is Lionel Dead?
Lionel didn’t try to get away from the Obelisk Chamber as Charlotte and Randall did. He could have fled, but out of morbid curiosity or out of fear, he lets the thing, now in liquid form, absorb him instead. It’s possible that the creature’s ability to put people in a trance was still working on Lionel, making it impossible for him to get away. There’s also a chance that Lionel, no matter how scared he was, let his curiosity get the best of him and lets the creature take him in.
As the episode ends, this monster reaches the nearest town and is almost ready to be unleashed on the people of the world. The lionel-creature Hybrid is currently making its way into the sewers after slowly leaving the house. The hybrid has emerged from the sewers and entered what we may guess is the LA River after an undetermined amount of time. Due to the hybrid’s existence, the electricity from the power lines starts to crackle with energy as it approaches the metropolis.
