Chicago Fire Season 12 Episode 1 Recap
Chief Boden’s voice starts the scene by reading the “previously on” section. This emphasizes the idea that the job brings people together but costs them a lot personally. The story then moves on to a steamy moment in the shower between Severide and his wife, which is a very racy scene for the show.
Someone named Chippy rips Mouch’s name off of his locker, which makes things more tense at Firehouse 51. Herrmann gets very angry about it. But Mouch comes back after six months in rehab. He had been to Molly’s a lot, but this is his first time going back to work. For now, Firehouse 17 is sharing room with 51 because their own house is a mess.
Gallo says he is moving to Detroit to be with his newfound extended family. There’s an accident in Sylvie’s locker with her engagement ring, which starts a talk about her wedding and her plans to move to Oregon with Julia afterward.
The fire station is called to a terrible fire in a delivery truck, where a man is stuck. Even though things are very dangerous, the team acts quickly to stop the burning truck from threatening a bridge nearby. The driver, on the other hand, dies during operations, which makes the room sad.
People start to think that Severide might have something to do with a fire at someone’s house because he is trying to get the smell of purple smoke out of his coat. The team makes guesses about what caused the fires. At first, they think it might be a box of cleaning supplies, but later they wonder if the fires were set on purpose.
As Severide looks into the case more, it becomes clear that someone is using explosives to target firemen. Mouch and Boden meet up and talk about how things have changed at the firehouse since Gallo and Brett have left. A pleasant touch is added by a surprise visit from Kylie, who is now dressed up and working at another fire station.
Ritter and Violet making lasagna, Sylvie’s wedding plans, and Gallo’s emotional goodbye are just a few of the human moments that make up the story. Tensions rise as everyone in the firehouse is on edge, afraid that more attacks on their coworkers will happen.
Severide finds proof that someone set fire to Firehouse 17 on purpose. When the team finds out that the arsonist is following them around the city, things get even worse. At the end of the show, Herrmann spots Alan John Webber, who is suspected of setting the fire, which leads to a confrontation.
Webber, a rookie from Firehouse 17 who didn’t make it, blames the firehouse for his problems and sets fires to get back at them. At the end of the show, Herrmann does something brave, Kidd sends Ritter back to Engine, and the firefighters say sad goodbyes and think about their own lives. The story touches on themes of strength, friendship, and the constant challenges of being a fireman.
