Jack has transformed the facility into a for-profit enterprise and is relocating the geriatrics department to make way for a VIP wing. When making decisions, no one ever consults Sharon, even though she is meant to be overseeing the hospital. In addition, Maggie must deal with Jan Dover, a neurotic patient who refuses treatment because she believes in conspiracy theories. As a believer in conspiracy theories, Jan suspects that hospitals are involved in a scheme to make patients dependent on pharmaceuticals.
