Henry, a new kid at school, is frightened by the ghosts he believes are hiding in his closet in the first minutes of the premiere. While his mother tries to calm him down, the youngster finds comfort in the thought that he has Joseph to look out for him. The only problem is that “Joseph” is actually a Chucky doll. When Henry is eventually tucked into bed, the camera pans back to reveal that the family lives in the White House and that Henry’s mother is the First Lady. And at that point, there’s a blackout.
Members of the Collins family, including President James Collins (Devon Sawa) and his teenage son Grant, take refuge in an elevator after one of their security guards delivers Chucky to Henry. The power cut is officially a false alarm, but everyone knows what’s really making those noises in the dark.
A year has passed, and Jake is still broadcasting online when we catch up with him. He reports that he, Devon (Björgvin Arnarson), and Lexy are making progress in dealing with their traumatic experiences. He is currently concentrating on his artwork, the third and last installment of a series about sinister dolls. But there’s still something missing from the final puzzle he’s working on. A Good Guy doll, as you probably figured. And if someone can locate him one, he’ll gladly pay for it.
Henry is eating breakfast the next morning while reading a book titled “Ghosts of 1600.” (Since I’m not a parent, I have to speculate that perhaps that is making the boy’s nightmares worse.) Joseph, according to Henry, has no interest in attending school with him but would rather visit the White House. The president actually packs the doll and puts him in a chair to use as a prop. (I don’t see why he would truly do it. (To keep the story going, I suppose.) It’s just a coincidence, he admits, that Henry came across a doll with “that name.” When the president and his entourage leave, Joseph is left alone with a letter opener that is both handy and dangerously sharp. Mistake!
We now switch to Lexy Cross (Alyvia Alyn Lind), who is busy creating TikTok thirst traps. She thinks that if she can gather more support, she can more effectively search for her sister. She posts a recent photo of Caroline and promises to bring her home to her sister. “And be very, very careful with that doll,” she admonishes.
Mrs. Charlotte Collins, who is currently obsessing over paint samples, says she wants to “keep busy.” Is there a catastrophe that has befallen this family that we don’t know about? Henry comes home from school but still can’t bring himself to enter his bedroom. He orders Teddy, one of his security guards, to conduct a search. Because Chucky is waiting for him, this will be Teddy’s final sweep. After he hands the doll his gun, the doll shoots him in the head. What a nasty mess: an entire eyeball splattered with blood on the wall.
The press secretary tells the reporters that it appears the deceased may have been self-inflicted, while authorities are still looking into the possibility of an accidental death. During a break with a bong (we can confirm that this president absolutely did inhale), the president and first lady discover that Henry has recently lost a brother, but we aren’t given any other specifics beyond that.
In the end, Chucky calls Jake, Lexy, and Devon to mock them. He tells them not to bother finding him because his new place of abode has very stringent rules about guests. Until then, that’s all he has to say. The kids have pinpointed their enemy’s location thanks to the absence of caller ID and a television report about a death in the White House. And they’re going to Washington, DC, to put an end to Chucky for good.
