On CSI: Vegas Season 2 Episode 2 titled “She’s Gone.” Although Gil and Sara are no longer on the show, Marg Helgenberger, who played Catherine Willows in the original series, will be returning for the relaunch. She convinces squad head Maxine Roby (Paula Newsome) to take her aboard just in time for a sordid case involving a porn star discovered slain near her secret sex dungeon.

CSI: Vegas Season 2 Episode 2 Synopsis: Catherine Willows persuades Maxine Roby to let her rejoin the team; a dominatrix is found murdered near her secret sex dungeon.

How Jorja Fox (Sara Sidle) and William Petersen (Gil Grissom) will be written out in CSI: Vegas?

Their storylines appeared to be over at the conclusion of CSI: Vegas Season 1, and TV Line has debuted new footage that explains why they won’t be in the upcoming second season. According to CSI Joshua Folsom, the two characters are sailing somewhere near the Arctic Circle (Matt Lauria). Joshua is heard stating to Chris in the audio clip, “They’re on a boat above the Arctic Circle, so yeah, she probably dialed them up on a sat phone inquiring all about you, Chris” (Jay Lee). The clip finds Chris wondering what the returning Catherine Willows (Marg Helgenberger) had to say about the new team.

But if the lovers are traveling the vast world by ship, it sounds like Catherine will be returning to the group with little to report. Fox revealed that it was preferable to proceed because she didn’t want to separate Sara and Gil again. The hole created by the leaving stars will be partially filled by Helgenberger’s comeback.
