DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN EPISODE 9 FINALE – WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER THE BLOODY BALLROOM SHOWDOWN

The end is near for the first season of Daredevil: Born Again, and Episode 9 promises to be an explosive finale after the intense, emotionally charged events of Episode 8, titled “Isle of Joy.” The pieces have been carefully set on the board: Daredevil, Bullseye, Vanessa Fisk, and Mayor Wilson Fisk are all now intertwined in a web of secrets, betrayal, and revenge. As Matt Murdock (played by Charlie Cox) bleeds out after taking a bullet for Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) at the gala, fans are left wondering who survives—and what the cost of justice will be in Hell’s Kitchen.

Let’s break down where things left off and what Episode 9 could deliver as it wraps up this dramatic first season of Born Again.

WHERE THINGS STAND: MURDOCK DOWN, FISK EXPOSED?

At the close of Episode 8, Matt Murdock made the ultimate sacrifice by stepping in front of a sniper’s bullet meant for Fisk. The shooter? None other than Benjamin Poindexter (Wilson Bethel), aka Bullseye, who had just executed a brutal escape from prison using nothing but sheer precision and calculated violence.

But this wasn’t just about the bullet. Before the shot was fired, Matt publicly confronted Vanessa Fisk (Sandrine Holt), accusing her of orchestrating Foggy’s death. Vanessa, now revealed to be far more dangerous than she first appeared, deflected his accusations—but the damage was done. Matt put a spotlight on her in front of Wilson and a room full of influential guests. Whether or not Fisk believed him is another story. But the emotional response to Murdock’s sacrifice—and Vanessa’s cool demeanor—suggests that cracks are beginning to show.

And what about Heather Glenn (Nikki M. James), who rushed to Matt’s side as he collapsed? Her arc has shifted significantly—from romantic partner to possible liability. With her growing disdain for masked vigilantes, how she reacts to finding out Matt is Daredevil could make or break her role in the finale.

BULLSEYE’S NEXT MOVE

DAREDEVIL BORN AGAIN EPISODE 9

Poindexter is now out in the open and back in the game. The finale will almost certainly see him continue his path of vengeance. He’s already caused irreversible chaos and seems to have no allegiances left. The gala may have been his first strike—but there’s no indication he’s done. With Foggy’s murder, his prison escape, and now a failed assassination attempt, Bullseye’s actions have brought him full circle as the ultimate wildcard.

Matt visiting him in prison and unleashing violence on him may have been part of Poindexter’s plan all along. The character thrives on psychological warfare. Now that he’s free, will he continue targeting Fisk? Or is Matt his real objective? And most importantly, what’s his endgame?

THE TRUTH ABOUT FOGGY’S DEATH

One of the biggest reveals in Episode 8 came when Matt pieced together that Foggy Nelson (played by Elden Henson, though only referenced this season) may have been celebrating a legal win the night he was killed—meaning his death wasn’t random. This adds weight to Matt’s confrontation with Vanessa. If she did order the hit, the motive remains unclear. Was it to protect Fisk’s political career? Was Foggy onto something?

In Episode 9, we can expect a deeper dive into Vanessa’s motivations. Whether or not she confesses, someone will likely uncover more evidence linking her—or possibly even Fisk himself—to Foggy’s murder. This mystery has fueled much of Matt’s emotional spiral throughout the season. Resolving it may be the key to Matt’s redemption or downfall.

MATT’S IDENTITY EXPOSED?

Vanessa’s sharp response to Matt’s accusations came with a lethal counter: asking if Heather knows he’s Daredevil. With this question hanging in the air, the finale could finally blow Matt’s double life wide open. Heather is already conflicted about the vigilante world. Discovering that the man she loves is the very thing she despises could shatter her—or push her to make a surprising choice.

And what about the wider consequences? With so many public figures and law enforcement officials present at the gala, Matt’s sacrifice might not go unnoticed. If his identity is confirmed, Matt Murdock could lose everything: his law firm, his relationships, and any remaining sense of normalcy.

WILSON AND VANESSA FISK – POWER COUPLE OR TIMEBOMB?

Throughout the season, Wilson Fisk has attempted to reinvent himself—rising from prison to mayor, launching an anti-vigilante task force, and staging a public redemption arc. But Vanessa’s violent actions, and her ability to keep secrets even from her husband, could unravel all of it.

Episode 9 might place Fisk in a position he hasn’t been in since his days as Kingpin—vulnerable and uncertain. How he responds to Vanessa’s dark side (especially if he learns the truth about her connection to Foggy’s death) will shape their future. Do they double down on their criminal empire, or does Fisk finally see his wife as the liability?

THE FINALE: REDEMPTION, REVENGE, OR RUIN?

“Born Again” as a title always hinted at transformation. And in the final hour, every main character seems on the brink of becoming something else entirely.

Matt Murdock could rise from the floor wounded but spiritually awakened. Or he might succumb to his injuries and pass the torch. Poindexter may get his revenge—or meet his end in a final showdown. And Fisk, for all his political maneuvering, may find himself right back where he started: in the crosshairs of justice.

There are too many moving parts to predict exactly how it ends, but expect betrayals, revelations, and possibly one final, bloody confrontation between Daredevil and Bullseye.

The ninth episode of Daredevil: Born Again will be available on Disney+ on April 15, 2025, at 6 p.m. Pacific Time (PT) and 9 p.m. Eastern Time (ET). Don’t miss the Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 finale—because after this, Hell’s Kitchen may never be the same again.
