Day of the Dead (2021) Episode 2 Recap
The zombies have taken Mawinhaken. Then there’s Dr. Jay Fisher (Dejan Loyola) and Amy (Kristy Dawn Dinsmore). Jay has a long walk down the aisle. His parents are stranded in Florida and may not reach it in time. Amy doesn’t appear to care, as she won’t even contemplate moving the wedding. Also, pro-fracking accessible champion Mayor Bowman (Miranda Frigon) is up for re-election in a close contest. A group of climate activists assembled at the Green Mile Retirement Home polling facility to oppose the mayor’s commitment to and their drilling project. Bowman tries to go home and watch the rest of the race in peace, but she ends herself in the act of civil disobedience. One individual, in particular, has strong words for Bowman and even brought a jug of water tainted by Cleargenix’s discharge. Bowman, her aide Nicole (Caitlin Stryker), and her husband Trey (Christopher Russell) flee back inside the retirement facility. They didn’t anticipate the same loud activist to join them inside. When he reaches into his jacket to get the contaminated water, Trey unholsters Amy’s revolver and shoots him. Luke (Daniel Doheny) and Trent (Trezzo Mahoro) have been driving around all morning hunting for booze to bring to a minors-only party by the lake in Mawinhaken’s forests. They abandon the automobile and roll the keg into the woods after eventually obtaining it. Jay arrives at the Mawinhaken Golf Club two hours before the guests, just enough time to test on his suit and get it sweaty. But he runs into his prospective father-in-law Herb, who insists they play nine before the big occasion. Jay isn’t in a position to protest. And just because he’s joining the family. Out on the links, Herb delivers Jay a prenup and makes him sign it, then drives away, leaving Jay stranded. In a fit of rage, he hurls Herb’s driver into the woods, where he follows it to retrieve it. When he returns, he finds more than the driver and several missing Titleists: a zombie is munching on fresh meat. Jay, a doctor who vowed an oath to help the sick and underprivileged, flees. To avoid being outed as felons, the Bowmans and Nicole have chosen to hide the dead corpse at the retirement home until after the election. For burying a body, a retirement home is ideal, as it is full of the deceased or dying. But we have a feeling he won’t make it to the end. He’s alive and hungry.
