Day of the Dead (2021) Episode 4 Recap
Trent (Trezzo Mahoro) had just abandoned Luke (Daniel Doheny) in quest of this alleged party when we last saw him, and a zombie had taken his place in search of Luke’s flesh. To fend off the undead, Luke uses his martial arts skills. Trent has finally found the party, but it seems more like a crime scene than an underground bacchanal: The teenagers have been massacred by zombies, who have left their half-eaten bodies strewn across a clearing. Trent, who has yet to see a zombie, assumes a particularly voracious bear has slaughtered his buddies and freezes in terror. Meanwhile, Jai (Dejan Loyola) has a wedding to crash back in town. Lauren (Natalie Malaika) picks him up and delivers him off to the police station so he can hunt for his father.
McDermott (Mike Dopud) hasn’t responded to any of his son’s texts all day, and despite their rocky relationship, Cam is becoming concerned. Cam finds Mayor Bowman (Miranda Frigon) continually berating Captain Pike (Marci T. House) for her perceived lack of police presence in Mawinhaken, despite an unexplainable increase in violent crime. Cam declares that Mawinhaken is infested with zombies. Of course, such an announcement is illogical, and Bowman and Pike laugh Cam out of the room. Cam sequesters himself in his father’s office, unable to persuade them, in search of evidence as to his whereabouts. The Sheriff and Mayor Bowman only comprehend the depth of the situation they’re dealing with after he’s gone.
Out in the woods, Luke finally comes across Trent, who shows him the horrific situation. This, Luke explains, is the result of a swarm of zombies. That is, until the zombie’s attack and Trey escapes, leaving Luke to his own devices. Jai has arrived at the Mawinhaken golf club, where he is greeted by Sean, his arch-nemesis and wife’s ex-boyfriend/man of honor. As a baseline, Sean produces an unhealthy amount of testosterone. Jai tries to explain his absence. Herb has no idea that the zombies had taken over the picture booth just a few feet away.
