Dexter: New Blood Episode 7 Recap
Dexter meets Angela at the crime scene, where we left off. Knowing Dexter’s true identity, she seeks his forensic advice. Her clothing is damaged from being shot from behind with a firearm. She was also alive when buried, and appeared to have tried to dig herself out. Dexter takes a tooth from her. That human skin could have enough DNA to identify the killer. Angela has a theory: Kurt Caldwell. He wanted them to stop searching just as Angela was about to enter the cave. Sus? Dexter and Harrison are still arguing about Harrison’s new job. In the end, Dexter prefers to let Angela handle the matter. So Harrison may see Kurt for who he truly is without further separating them.
In the woods, Dexter tells Angela what transpired between Molly and Kurt. The cabin appears hauled away, and the cellar smells of bleach and is utterly bare. Dexter buys a coffee at the diner to keep an eye on Harrison. Kurt enters his booth, and Dexter inquires about Molly’s conversation with Matt. He tells Kurt he’d want to hear Matt’s version of the tale. The conversation gradually grows tense, until Angela enters to arrest Kurt for murder. 7th Dexter New Blood Then AngelaKurt interrogates him about his FaceTime with Matt (which we and she know is a lie). She also asks about his scar and tells him they found a DNA match on Iris’ body. Meanwhile, a trucker gives Harrison an envelope to give his father. When Dexter opens it, he finds a small piece of metal (a nail?).
Later, he makes a diversion to visit Kurt in jail. He tells him to avoid his son. Kurt claims it wasn’t snowing when Dex picked him up; it was ash showering. Kurt also mentions that titanium doesn’t melt. Kurt appears to know everything about Dexter. Dexter Googles titanium compression screws, which is exactly what was in the mail. So Kurt knows Dexter killed Matt. Even from prison. Kurt tells the cops about his father picking up working females and abusing them while Kurt was in the car. (The tune the youngster spins in the truck is Del Shannon’s “Runaway,” which Kurt frequently plays in the bar and which the killer played before murdering Lily in Episode 3.) He claims he saw Iris riding with his father one night. He never saw her after they left. The rest of the storey is: When Kurt’s father refused to allow Iris out of his truck, she bit his hand and leaped out. He pulled out a rifle and shot her as she ran away. Kurt claims the DNA is his father’s. Kurt was eventually released due to the 67 percent match. 7th Dexter New Blood HarrisonDexter stakes out the diner, pondering the screw’s “loose end”. He snoops through Kurt’s workplace and decides to kill him. Angela tells Molly in the pub that she was supposed to leave town with Iris but had to cancel. Molly considers herself fortunate that “Jim” arrived at the cabin at the time he did.
Angela claims Jim overheard them, but Molly points out he was too far away to have merely overheard them. He was charging his phone at the bar, so she assumes he videotaped them. When Molly goes outside, we see Kurt, now free. Harrison uses his razor on a gang of men who threaten him, but Dexter intervenes. Harrison sobs, admitting he’s “always been f–ked up.” He’s always experienced nightmares, but listening to Molly’s podcast brought them back. “I remember everything,” he adds, as a bloodied Trinity Killer (John Lithgow!) stands over him. Harrison accuses Dexter of knowing about Rita’s death, and the boy flees in a friend’s car. An unknown intruder jumps Dexter from behind towards the end of the episode.
