Dana Duve, a young woman from Vero Beach, Florida, went missing and tragically died in June 2014. Her death shocked and upset many. At age 13, Diana Duve came to the United States from Moldova to be with her mother, Lena Andrews, who had moved to Florida to marry businessman Bill Andrews. Diana is now a nurse and is 26 years old. Duve was described as lively, caring, and dedicated. She made friends quickly and did very well as a nurse, working with cancer patients at a nearby hospital.
Duve met Michael “Mike” Jones, a fund manager from Vero Beach who was 32 years old, in the summer of 2013. People in the neighborhood knew Jones and thought he was friendly and successful. The friendship between Duve and Jones grew quickly, and the two moved in together. At first, Jones impressed Duve’s parents, Lena and Bill Andrews, who said he was polite and well-spoken.
But soon, there were signs that things were going wrong in the relationship. Chelsea DiMaio, Duve’s friend, remembered a time when Duve was crazy after a fight with Jones, and Jones is said to have choked her during the fight. Then again, Duve decided not to report Jones to the police. She broke up with him, moved out, and went back to live with her parents, telling no one about what happened.
Jones, on the other hand, kept looking for Duve even after they broke up. Duve had agreed to meet Jones at a nearby bar the night she went missing. When she didn’t come home, her folks got worried and called Jones. He said she was with him and everything was okay. But Jones didn’t show up for a while, which made people suspicious.
Police made a big step forward in the case when they tracked Duve and Jones’s cell phone pings. Jones was found at a hotel, but Duve wasn’t there with him. Duve’s car was found and her body was found in the trunk. This led to more investigations. An autopsy showed that she had been killed by being choked.

Mike Jones, who had a past of abusing people, was caught and charged with killing Duve. During his hearing, DNA and geolocation data were used as proof that he was guilty of the crime. Mike Jones is staying in jail at the Santa Rosa Correctional Institution in Florida to finish his term. He is 41 years old now.
