Yaz and the Doctor are escaping a hazardous alien world when the episode begins. In addition, Swarm, a new villain, escapes from an asteroid jail and forms a mental bond with the Doctor. Swarm also locates his sister, who is huddled someplace north of the Arctic Circle, and she kidnaps Diane shortly after. Swarm is eventually revealed to be the Doctor’s long-term adversary. His abilities are capable of reducing individuals to microscopic fragments and are thought to be linked to the all-powerful Flux, which he will use when the time comes to meet his greatest foe!
