A new episode of ELSBETH brings in another high-profile guest. Billy Magnussen is stepping into the quirky and clever crime-solving world of Elsbeth for Season 2, Episode 19, titled “I’ve Got a Little List.” The episode airs Thursday, May 1, on CBS and will be available to stream the next day on Paramount+.
Magnussen plays Rod, a wealthy and entitled thrill-seeker who seems to be crossing off wild experiences from his bucket list. But this isn’t just about skydiving or racing sports cars—his list may include something far more sinister. When a random shooting takes place, Elsbeth Tascioni (played by Carrie Preston) starts digging, and Rod becomes a key figure in the investigation.
Elsbeth is quickly drawn into Rod’s world. She is known for her unique but sharp way of investigating. But as she looks for more clues, the case gets more complicated, and she might even get in trouble with the law. It’s not the first time Elsbeth has been in trouble but this time it seems like more is at stake.

Fans will also get more of Elsbeth and Detective Kaya Blanke (Carla Patterson) interacting with each other in this episode. Since Kaya is now a real detective, she and Elsbeth haven’t been on screen together as much, but this case brings them back together. Their dynamic relationship is one of the best parts of the show, and fans will probably enjoy seeing them work together again.
As this is the penultimate episode of Season 2, it could be laying the groundwork for what promises to be a packed and star-studded finale. The next episode, “Ramen Holiday,” (Directed by Lionel Coleman & written by Jonathan Tolins) will feature several familiar faces from previous episodes—including Stephen Moyer, Retta, Gina Gershon, Elizabeth Lail, Alyssa Milano, Mary-Louise Parker, and Ethan Slater. With so many returning guest stars, it seems this season will end with a big moment, and Elsbeth’s legal troubles from this episode might carry over into the finale.
Billy Magnussen, known for roles in Black Mirror, The Franchise, Aladdin, and Made for Love, adds another memorable performance to his growing list. He’s also set to appear as Pleakley in the upcoming live-action Lilo & Stitch movie, arriving May 23.
With Elsbeth already renewed for a third season, fans can expect more exciting guest stars and complex cases in the future. But for now, all eyes are on Rod—and how far he’s willing to go to complete his deadly list.
Don’t miss the twist-filled episode of ELSBETH, airing May 1 on CBS.
