Euphoria Season 2 Episode 3 Promo and Release Date
Cal, on the other hand, is dissatisfied with his son’s failure to give him a name and opts for a different path. He singles out Cassie as a weak link among the student body, all of whom had claimed ignorance of the attack, and makes a journey to the Howard house. Her mother and sister, Lexi, is seated at the table with her new fling’s father, ready for the questioning to begin when she arrives home from school. Cal presses her hand, threatening to engage the chief of police and have him subpoena everyone’s phones and text history if she continues to lie about not knowing who beat up Nate.
If that happens, Cassie and Nate may find themselves in serious difficulty — not because of the assault, but because of their shared betrayal of Maddy, Cassie’s best friend, and Nate’s ex-girlfriend. Cassie felt it was a mistake to hook up with Nate in the toilet at the party after New Year’s Eve and texted him to tell him so, but she didn’t do much to hide what she was chatting about in the message. She got a call from him seconds later, with him warning her. Cassie cracks and snitches on Fez back in the dining room with Cal, that warning echoing in her ears.
Meanwhile, another of East Highland’s partnerships, the reunited Rue (Zendaya) and Jules, is threatened by a New Year’s meeting (Hunter Schafer). All appears to be fine until Elliot (Dominic Fike), with whom Rue spent most of the party doing hazardous amounts of drugs, comes in the corridor, drawing Rue’s attention away from Jules’ declaration of love. She doesn’t have to be concerned about that, but she should be more concerned about her own behavior, which has made Jules and Elliot’s meeting strange and awkward. Jules walks away, convinced that Rue has a love for him, and goes to the girls’ bathroom to cry.
Elliot later sees the two arguing and asks Rue if he’s the one who put her in trouble. As a remedy, he suggests that the new buddies go to his house – where they’ve been holed up a lot since NYE – to smoke pot and rack up lines. Rue informs him that drugs are the only way she can be herself in between drinks, which leads to a discussion about love and loss, her father’s death, and keeping her habits hidden from her lover. Elliot claims that he and Rue don’t bring out the best in one other, and as we see Rue bike off to her NA meeting on a high, he may be right.
Rue notices Cassie sprinting to Nate’s car and kissing him as she climbs into the passenger seat. Once she arrives at her NA meeting venue, she takes the stairlift up the stairs, where she finds her sponsor Ali waiting for her at the top. He notices she’s high right away and informs her she’s on a “suicide mission.” He gives her a ride home after the meeting and walks her to her door so he may introduce himself to her mother. Rue is concerned that he will inform her that she is still abusing.
Kat (Barbie Ferreira) is having trouble with her romance with Ethan (Austin Abrams). Kat feels horrible about not liking him and fantasizes about a shirtless warrior killing him before ravishing her while he’s in the restroom. Lexi (Maude Apatow) is perplexed by how Fez went from being so friendly to her at the party to almost killing Nate 10 minutes later. She decides to confront him, but the presence of Faye (Chloe Cherry), who is staying at the house for a bit, shakes her confidence. Cal shows up during Lexi’s visit and begins questioning Fez. He calmly pays for his gum just as it looks like he’s about to draw a gun on the dealer.
Nate tries to break up with Cassie by driving her out to an isolated area of town near a construction site, but when she runs off into the half-finished structure, he pursues her and they hook up again. He returns home to find his father waiting for him, perplexed as to why “some punk drug dealer” had beaten him up. As the show comes to a close, Cal asks his son if he has the recording, and he smiles at his father. Nate informs Cal that Jules had told Rue about their sexual encounter, and Rue had told Fez that he’d been attempting to defend his father when they threatened to call the cops. Cal attempts an apology, but Nate rejects it and admits that he filmed Jules. Cal, panicked, asks where the disc is, but Nate merely stares back calmly, implying that there will be more drama around Cal’s major secret.
