FBI Season 4 Episode 17 Recap
A woman in a New York park had stomach problems and needed to go to the hospital. Her boyfriend asked a stranger for help but was shot before the man stabbed her. Scola and Wallace discussed Scola’s recent date and his new open approach. Then came the call concerning John Krause and Julia Miller’s bodies. The agents were stunned at Julia’s decapitation. Julia, a clean-slate college student, and John, her boyfriend, had just returned from Mexico. Neither had shared any images from their trip to Cancun, and neither had phones. We visited Julia’s mother, Beth (Monica McCarthy), who was upset. She was astonished to learn of the Mexico vacation.
Julia had been smuggling cocaine, which explained her stomach problems and why she was cut open. She and John had tried to make money smuggling, but it had failed. Benny Gomez (Danny Garcia), a low-level dealer, picked them up from the airport. Wallace and Scola inspected his residence as Benny returned home and fled. The team located Benny in a warehouse, talking to someone. They arrested them only for the woman (Shantel VanSanten) to enquire what Scola was doing. Nina Chase, an undercover FBI agent, helped Benny get close to the Regents drug gang and their leader Octavio Lopez (E. Ambriz DeColosio). She couldn’t believe Benny did it, and she’d be there. Scola also apologised “for last year,” which Nina dismissed. Isobel told Scola to take the case before the director called. Nina pressed Gomez to confess to his role in the murders. He said he was a last-minute replacement for a sick driver, but Julia got unwell and they walked to the park. “Let me take care of it,” Lopez urged Gomez. He panicked and ran, but his alibi later checked out. For the major boss, Hector “El Perro” Garcia, Isobel wanted Benny to wear a wire to elicit a confession from Lopez. Sobel and Nina agreed to collect Lopez’s confession but keep it quiet until they had El Perro.
Nina helped Benny relax and play dumb about the murders. Nina encouraged Scola to stick to the plan, despite their obvious stress. Gomez went to Lopez’s mansion, but Lopez was skeptical. Gomez said his “contact” Nina wanted to meet with Lopez. Scola was outraged and Gomez and Nina fought before Wallace intervened. Scola acknowledged to Wallace that he had a one-night fling with Nina and never called her back. Meanwhile, Wallace criticized Scola for losing his chance with such a clever woman. Exes don’t get along Scola knew Nina wouldn’t appreciate it when Isobel claimed Lopez’s DNA didn’t match the crime scene. She was enraged when Scola tried to apologize, but Nina was focused on meeting El Perro. The crew went to a club where Lopez met Nina as the rest of the team socialised. Before demanding half the money ahead, Nina posed as a representative for several Toronto dealers. Lopez was apprehensive about Garcia as Nina played on the phone. The team concluded Lopez didn’t smoke, so the DNA on the cigarettes wasn’t his. Scola took a glass Lopez had left. The director scolded Isobel because Scola said El Perro had agreed to meet. He and Nina put the money together, Nina prioritizing El Perro.
Scola reassured her he had her. Scola helped Nina apply a wire, and they both felt sparks close by. Wallace was nervous since Lopez was late and his house was quiet. Nina welcomed Gomez to the scene, saying she trusted him. Gomez spoke with the agents to inform them that Lopez wanted to meet Nina before the deal. Nina met Lopez with Scola. Only Nina was to meet El Perro, so Lopez took her picture. The team objected, with Isobel instructing Scola to arrest Lopez immediately. Nina was enraged by Scola’s arrest of Lopez. Isobel apologised to Scola for rushing into a transaction. El Perro had ordered Lopez to kill and he was willing to kill for his boss’s sake. Scola realised El Perro was planning to rob and kill Nina after Lopez said so. He tried calling her, but she was at El Perro’s. They found her and Gomez as El Perro (Hans Marrero) arrived. Nina and Benny were shot during a gunfight with El Perro’s soldiers. Scola killed a man about to shoot Nina before Wallace killed El Perro. Scola apologised for both the matter and never called Nina or Gomez. A week later, he invited her out to dinner. She agreed as they shared an elevator.
