[Finale] Below Deck Mediterranean Season 8 Episode 16 Recap
At the start of the show, the guests finally get to leave Mustique for a while as they go on a trip to Portofino. While the team goes shopping and sightseeing, tensions between them continue to build. The constant fighting between Stephanie and Jeff sets the scene for the guests’ lunch and the events that will determine the ending.
At the same time, Tumi calls Jessika to let her know how the dinner party plans are going. As part of their job, Max and Lily are to prepare a pool for a foam party. Max has trouble with the foam machine, even though the instructions are clear in French, and what seems like an easy assignment turns into a mess. As soon as the upset guests arrive, Tumi tries to fix things, and to her surprise, Kyle steps in to fix the machine.
Back on the boat, the crew compliments Jessika on her Hollywood-glam-themed dinner table. Jack wants to go out with a bang, so he makes a huge surf-and-turf feast that gets a standing ovation. The team gets through tough situations, especially Jack, whose cooking skills save the charter from a possible disaster.
Personal ties become more important as the charter goes on. Luka is getting texts from both Natalya and Katie Flood at the same time, which is making things tense on board. Kyle can’t help but share this knowledge with Lara because he wants to spread rumors, which leads to a series of arguments.
The real action happens on the last night out. After drinking, Jess talks to Luka about his relationships with other women. When Natalya shows up, the situation gets even worse, and fighting and jealousy turn into a show. Max drops a bombshell about Natalya’s appearance in Genoa, which makes Kyle and Lara very angry.
After the crazy night, Lily is nursing an “Unidentified Drinking Injury,” Haleigh leaves without saying a word, and Max is thrilled to be free. The group thinks back on the season, and Luka says he feels bad about what he did and calls it a “Bad Decision Luka.” The episode ends with sad goodbyes, leaving the group with lessons learned but wounds still open.
Lily needs medical help in the morning because she fell during the adventure the night before. Sandy has to follow the rules and take her to the doctor. The short time Haleigh was on the show came to an end when she left without saying goodbye. Max is happy that he is finally free from the charter.
As the group says goodbye, Luka says he feels bad about what he did the night before, but he blames “Bad Decision Luka.” After thinking about it, Jess promises herself that she will never date an F-boy again and admits that she feels more confident as a stew. At the end of the episode, Luka and Jess’s future is uncertain, and everyone on the team is looking forward to what’s to come.
Captain Sandy has been a controversial character in past seasons, but this time around she seems to be able to avoid the worst of the complaints. First, Sandy says it was “absolutely a joy” to work with everyone on the crew. She then says that the final tip of $15,000 gets the season total to $182,000, which is $14,279 for each person.
This is the last episode of Below Deck Mediterranean Season 8. It has a lot of ups and downs, drama, and resolution, and it makes people want to see how the crew’s trip continues in future charters.
