Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba’ Season 3 Episode 11 Recap
In the episode titled “A Connected Bond: Daybreak and First Light” of ‘Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba’ season 3, the chase continues as Tanjirou and his companions pursue Hantengu, the Upper-Rank Four demon. They finally catch up with him and decapitate him, but they find that Hantengu has used a clever way to survive. Nezuko’s demon body is revealed when the sun comes up and starts to burn. Tanjirou is unable to make a choice before an unexpected incident occurs because he is torn between saving his sister and killing Hantengu.
Tanjirou uses Zenitsu’s skill to become more mobile and approaches Hantengu in an effort to behead him. Tanjirou is overcome by the monster as it gains power and stature. Just in time to help his pal, Genya shows up. In the meantime, Nezuko ignites Hantengu’s corpse with her Blood Demon Art. Tanjirou takes the chance to cut Hantengu’s neck more deeply. Hantengu surprises the trio with an unexpected attack after realizing he is in trouble and flees once more. Tanjirou and the rest are chased and end up falling off a cliff, rendering Nezuko helpless.
Tanjirou is left without a weapon, his sword still lodged in Hantengu’s neck. Thankfully, Tokito gives him an old sword made by Mr. Haganezuka. Tanjirou ultimately decapitates Hantengu with all his might. But as the light comes up, Nezuko’s body starts to burn. Realizing Hantengu is still alive and attempting to eat the villagers to restore power, Tanjirou panics.
When Tanjirou is torn between killing Hantengu and shielding Nezuko from the sun, his sister unexpectedly gives him a shove and risks her own safety. Tanjirou strikes Hantengu decisively after realizing it is too late to save Nezuko. Tanjirou is devastated, thinking that Nezuko has also died, and he collapses to his knees and sobs.
To his amazement, Nezuko approaches him without being affected by the sun. She has gained the capacity to communicate, yet she has not totally returned to human. When Genya, Tokito, and Kanroji rejoin them, they joyfully celebrate their victory against two powerful demons.
The major adversary Muzan’s past is also covered in depth in this episode. It reveals that Muzan was once a regular person who suffered from a fatal illness. He killed his doctor out of frustration at his failing health and noticed an immediate improvement in it, coupled with increased power and a hunger for human flesh. Muzan developed into a formidable demon as a result of his obsession with discovering the Blue Spider Lily and becoming a sun-resistant individual, with the ultimate goal of being the ideal being. Since Nezuko accomplished the seemingly unachievable, Muzan is now looking for her to help him realize his long-held desire.
The episode also presents Lady Tamayo’s letter to Tanjirou, in which she announces the successful conversion of a person who had been turned into a demon by Muzan back into a human. Nezuko’s blood composition has changed, and Lady Tamayo surmises that Nezuko is staying where she is because she values something other than resuming human form.
