CBS’s Ghosts Season 2 Episode 1 Recap
The Woodstone B&B’s first official visitors are greeted by Jay and Sam. Due to the termites, they slip through the floorboards. Jay fell and injured his head. Sam advises him to rest in bed. Jay wanders about the building looking for ghosts since he thinks the fall has given him the ability to see them. They request the ghosts to avoid the guests should their behaviour cause issues and damage their business image. When Tom and Debbie come, the spirits make up their minds and spy on them. Pete sees that despite their grins, Tom and Debbie rarely mean what they say, so he has no idea what they think of the restaurant or what review they’ll give. Isaac is thrilled with his new friendship with Nigel until he declines to meet him at the estate. Thor’s enthusiasm bothers him. Isaac urges Thor to be quiet around Nigel, which Thor takes as a personal attack. He chooses to hang out with the ghosts downstairs and entirely avoid Isaac and Nigel. Eventually, Isaac will need to figure out how to strike a balance between his friendship with Thor and his connection to Nigel.
Tom and Debbie challenge the couple’s willingness to please their guests. Sam and Jay don’t want another one-star review, so they pick out every defect in their service, even ones that aren’t there. Sam and Jay learn that their guests have a reputation for badmouthing every restaurant they visit. Tom and Debbie gave negative ratings. Sam uses the ghosts to spy on the guests and see what they’re complaining about, despite Jay’s caution. The complaints seem valid, but not something every guest would object to. The old couple nitpicks everything, though. They critique every item. Sam takes constructive suggestions and changes her conduct accordingly. Jay refuses to cooperate. When people criticize Sam, he takes a position. He tells the pair he doesn’t care what rating they post on Yelp, but he won’t hear their complaints anymore. The old couple is more curious about how Sam and Jay knew about their reviews than offended by the breach of privacy. Tom and Debbie publish a review indicating that someone hacked their account and posted negative things about various businesses. To prevent Jay and Sam from revealing their secret, they give their B&B a five-star review.
