Knives Out was a huge blockbuster when it premiered in theatres in 2019. You don’t have to be Benoit Blanc to realize this. This murder mystery received positive reviews from critics, did well at the box office, and received accolades for its strong cast and smart editing. Following the unusual death of mystery writer Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer), Benoit Blanc’s (Daniel Craig) “who killed who” investigation at the Thrombey estate was an instant attention-getter. Now that Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery has been released by Netflix, there are great expectations that it will be just as popular as its predecessor. (tvacute.com) Here is what is known thus far about the highly anticipated sequel, which is soon to be released.
What Does the Meaning of the Name Glass Onion Mean?
The sequel will be titled Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, according to Rian Johnson. The Beatles’ 1968 song of the same name served as the basis for the name.
Is Knives Out’s direct sequel Glass Onion?
Although several well-known Hollywood actors stole the show in Knives Out (it was wonderful to witness Ana de Armas, Chris Evans, Jamie Lee Curtis, Toni Collette, and more all in one feature film), director Rian Johnson has announced that the sequel will have a completely different story. The director used Agatha Christie as an example in an interview with SiriusXM in February of last year to illustrate how not every murder mystery follows the same pattern. He expressed his desire to explore the genre with fresh settings, characters, and plot developments.
What Is the Knives Out 2’s Story?
The sequel’s plot is mostly unknown even now, after the debut of the first trailer. What we do know is that on the same post-Rian Johnson made on Twitter during day one of production, he noted “several murders,” which would suggest that there will be a lot going on in Glass Onion. The Netflix official plot summary is as follows: Tech billionaire Miles Bron invites his friends for a getaway on his private Greek island. When someone turns up dead, Detective Benoit Blanc is put on the case.

Leslie Odom Jr. as scientist Lionel Toussaint, Edward Norton as tech billionaire Miles Bron, Dave Bautista as YouTube star Duke Cody, Janelle Monae as tech entrepreneur Cassandra “Andi” Brand, Kathryn Hahn as governor of Connecticut Claire Debella running for Senate, Madelyn Cline as Whiskey, Duke’s girlfriend and assistant, and Jessica Henwick as Peg, Birdie’s assistant, and also Ethan Hawke.
Glass Onion Movie Locations
The first day of filming on the Greek island of Spetses was June 28, 2021. Johnson found Villa 20 of the Aman Resorts in Porto Heli and made the decision to use it as a significant filming location. The majority of the filming, which Johnson referred to as “a summer vacation when we also created a movie,” was also headquartered there. The production left Greece on July 30 and was officially finished on September 13, 2021.
