GREY’S ANATOMY (DON’T YOU, FORGET ABOUT ME) RECAP: SEASON 21 EPISODE 13 EXPLAINED

Grey’s Anatomy Season 21 Episode 13, titled “Don’t You (Forget About Me),” is full of dramatic personal struggles, work problems, and unexpected turns at Grey Sloan Memorial. As the doctors try to make sense of their crazy lives, relationships are put to the test, careers are at risk, and life-changing choices have to be made.

THE TROUBLED UNION: TEDDY AND OWEN’S OPEN MARRIAGE

Grey's Anatomy _

Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) and Teddy Altman (Kim Raver) made the brave choice to end their marriage, but it’s turning out to be much harder than either of them thought. And Teddy is off to Oakland for a medical meeting with Miranda Bailey, played by Chandra Wilson.

She became close with Cass Beckman (Sophia Bush). When Bailey finished speaking, Teddy and Cass’s anger reached a peak and the two of them ran off together. After flirty looks and longing touches, they kiss in the elevator. But just as things are about to get worse, Teddy backs off because she knows that this affair won’t help her marriage. She told him, “I feel like I’m cheating on my husband.” She knew that looking for comfort in someone else wouldn’t help her marriage.

Owen stays at the hospital and runs into Nora (Amy Argyle) an old friend who tried to kiss him not long ago. Their tension that hasn’t been solved lingers in the air.

THE HEARTBREAK OF BLUE: MOLLY’S LOST MEMORIES

Molly (Natalie Alyn Lind), who had been in an accident, went back to Grey Sloan. She was still having seizures and had lost her memory. Simone (Alexis Floyd) and Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) worked together to try to fix Molly’s health and her memories.

Blue played by Harry Shum Jr., has had a lot of ups and downs with Molly. Dave (Brandon Scott), Molly’s ex-fiancé, comes over with bad news, but Blue at first doesn’t care. Dave tells Blue that Molly’s fixation on memories is unhealthy, but Blue thinks Molly really wants to be with him. After Molly has surgery on her brain to bring back her lost memories, it’s clear that the trip she remembers going on was with Dave, not Blue. Blue is very upset about this.

When Molly tries to remember the past, it gets in the way of her present. She wants more tests to be done, but Blue starts to understand the truth: she might only be with him because he reminds her of the things she has lost. This is like Alex Karev’s old relationship with “Ava” which was built on shaky ground and was never meant to last.

Blue had brushed off Dave’s worries before, but the memory made him think again. He found out that Molly hadn’t told her parents about the surgery or the fact that she and Blue were back together. Blue began to wonder if she was really with him or if she was just making things up in her mind. Due to not knowing how she felt Molly ended the relationship without a resolution.

SIMONE’S CHALLENGE IN THE OR

When Simone Griffith (Alexis Floyd) helps Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone) with Molly’s brain surgery, it’s one of the scariest times for her in surgery. Blue’s emotional plea for Amelia not to go too far makes Simone doubt herself. Simone’s nerves get the best of her as Amelia moves forward, making for a tense moment in the OR. Amelia firmly reminds her that feelings have no place in surgery, which is an important lesson she learned as a medical student. Even though there was tension, Amelia later saw Simone’s potential and asked her to co-present at Grand Rounds.

MILLIN AND WINSTON: A MENTORSHIP EVOLVES

Mika Millin, played by Midori Francis, wants to show how good she is. Winston (Anthony Hill), the person she asked to be her mentor, gives her the job of getting undigested food out of a patient’s esophagus instead of helping with surgery, which makes her feel undervalued at first. She quickly learns, though, that Winston had a plan all along. This helps her get ready for her first transesophageal echocardiogram, which is a very important and delicate procedure. This is a big step forward in her surgery journey, showing that Winston’s help is making her stronger.

ADAMS FIGHTS FOR HIS FUTURE

Lucas Adams (Niko Terho)  is still dealing with the effects of the mistakes he made in the past. While his peers are doing more complicated surgeries, he has to repeat his internship year because of a choice he made to save a dying patient that caused a lot of controversy. He shows how good he is when he correctly diagnoses thrombosis in a kidney transplant patient, saving their life. There’s no doubting his skills, but getting Catherine Fox (Debbie Allen) to hire him again is a whole different story. When he asks Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr.) for help, he doesn’t give him much encouragement. Adams has to make a choice, and it’s clear that he’s upset. He might think about leaving Grey Sloan all together if he can’t make progress there.

MARCUS: THE NEW FACE OF GREY SLOAN

Marcus, the new surgical resident played by Adrian Dev, keeps adding humor and new life to Grey Sloan. He is a unique addition to the team because he is both enthusiastic and sometimes too sure of himself. Marcus is still figuring out where he fits in, but his odd personality and unwavering drive make him seem like he could become a major player in the hospital.

OWEN AND NORA: THE AFTERMATH

Owen’s hasty actions with Nora caused problems that were bound to happen. When Teddy was tempted, she held back to protect her marriage but Owen gave in right away. He made Nora feel better and they became emotionally close again. After a while, Owen told Nora that his relationship with Teddy was no longer exclusive. At the end of the show, Owen was in bed with Nora while Teddy texted him to wish him a good day. This made it look like Owen and Nora may no longer be married. Owen betrayed Teddy, but Teddy doesn’t know it yet. What she does when she does could change everything.

Grey Sloan Memorial is still as intense as ever, with relationships in chaos, careers on the line, and secrets ready to come out. The weak marriage between Teddy and Owen is put to the test, Blue needs to find a way to move on and Adams needs to fight for his future. One thing is for sure: things will change as the season goes on.
