In the fallout of Alex Karev sending letters to those closest to him to tell them he’s not coming back, everyone deals with the fallout. Bailey (Chandra Wilson) and Ben (guest star Jason George) reconcile over bringing Joey into their home. Jo (Camilla Luddington) finds the strength to be her own hero. And Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) shares a moment with Zola.
Chambers declared his exit in January, and ABC has confirmed that the last episode he would show up in was the one that disclosed in November, where he appeared at Meredith’s preliminary with letters from individuals on the side of her.
While it’s a complicated ending for fans of Alex, few loose ends for long-term fans of Grey’s Anatomy.
