Good news for people who like movies based on books and true stories: the long-awaited movie “H Is For Hawk” has started filming in Wales and London this October. This project, which stars Claire Foy and Brendan Gleeson, will adapt Helen Macdonald’s award-winning memoir into a movie.
Filmed by the talented Philippa Lowthorpe, “H Is For Hawk” is about a falconer named Helen Macdonald who trains a goshawk named Mabel to deal with the sudden death of her father. Claire Foy, who is known for playing Queen Elizabeth II in Netflix’s “The Crown,” plays Helen Macdonald, a complicated and emotional character. Brendan Gleeson, who is known for his many roles in movies like “In Bruges” and the “Harry Potter” series, will join Foy in the production and give it more depth and weight. A strong group of producers, including Dede Gardner, Lena Headey, and Jeremy Kleiner, are behind the project. Emma Donoghue, who wrote “Room,” wrote the screenplay.
