Heels Season 2 Episode 1 Recap
The episode begins with the DWL (Duffy Wrestling League) locker room celebrating Crystal’s surprise win. Jack’s brother Ace, however, is unhappy because Jack embarrassed him in front of the entire community. Ace drives off into the night after bursting out of the arena. Jack begins looking for Ace before he has even left.
Jack is drawn into a painful recollection of their past while conducting his investigation. He thinks back to the day their father, Tom Spade, committed suicide. Ace, who had discovered their father’s body first, was sitting next to it while still donning the blanket he used for his slumber. When Jack learns what has happened, he covers their father’s body with his jacket to hide it from their mother, Carol.
Some wrestlers wonder whether Tom had CTE (chronic traumatic encephalopathy), while everyone mourns Tom in their own manner. Jack discovers a letter from Tom addressed to him, but he won’t open it because he is upset over the several secrets his father hid.
The DWL may permanently close as a result of Tom’s passing. But first, they decide to put on one last goodbye performance. Ace imitates their father in a tribute bout by executing an elbow from the top rope to secure the pin. Jack offers to continue leading the DWL and create something even bigger than previously after being pleased by what Ace does with just a week of training. They extend a friendly handshake in agreement.
Jack and Ace are currently on bad terms since Jack’s calls to Ace go to voicemail. In a phone conversation with Staci, Jack says that he hasn’t missed his father since he passed away. He is currently estranged from Ace but feels closer to Staci, and she agrees to talk to him the following day about possibly returning home.
When Jack finally makes the decision to read his father’s letter, he finds a note telling him to take care of Ace. Jack is not yet prepared to take on this responsibility given the current status of their relationship. Their father’s crown is currently in the passenger seat as Ace drives into the night.
