The events of House of the Dragon take place at the height of House Targaryen’s dynastic dynasty and dragon power, 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones. Starting on Sunday, August 21 at 9 p.m. EST, HBO and HBO Max will broadcast House of the Dragon. The first season will consist of 10 episodes, with fresh ones released every week. Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, played by Emma D’Arcy.
Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, Emmy D’Arcy, is the first-born child of King Viserys. She is a dragonrider and has only pure Valyrian blood. Rhaenyra was said to have had it all from birth, yet she was not born a man. Emma, who uses the pronouns they/them, previously starred in the Truth Seekers Amazon Original series. Playing the child Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen is Milly Alcock. This is Milly’s first venture into the world of international television.
Paddy Considine plays King Viserys I Targaryen.
Viserys I of Targaryen is played by Paddy Considine. The Iron Throne is currently occupied by Viserys. He is an ancestor of Daenerys Targaryen. At the Great Council at Harrenhal, Viserys was selected by the lords of Westeros to succeed the Old King, Jaehaerys I Targaryen. Otto Hightower, the Hand of the King and the most attractive woman in the Seven Kingdoms, is Alicent’s father. She has a courtly grace as well as sharp political insight because she was nurtured in the Red Keep, close to the monarch and his inner circle. The actress is well recognised for her work on Vanity Fair and Bates Motel. Alicent Hightower’s younger self is portrayed by Emily Carey.

Prince Daemon Targaryen, played by Matt Smith, is the successor to the throne and the younger brother of King Viserys. Daemon is an unmatched warrior and a dragonrider who carries genuine dragon blood. However, it is said that the gods toss a coin into the air each time a Targaryen is born. The Sea Snake is played by Steve Toussaint.

Ser Criston is the native-born son of the Lord of Blackhaven’s steward. He has no claim to any territory or titles; the only things to his name are his honour and his extraordinary swordsmanship. He has Dornish ancestry.
Aemma Targaryen is played by Sian Brooke, the twins Lord Jason and Ser Tyland Lannister by Jefferson Hall, Grand Maester Mellos by David Horovitch, Lady Baela Targaryen by Bethany Antonia, and Prince Jacaerys Velaryon by Harry Collett. Characters from Game of Thrones won’t feature in House of the Dragon because it takes place centuries before the events of the main series. A spinoff starring Jon Snow, though, is in the works.
House of the Dragon Crew
The prequel is being handled expertly. Co-creators include Ryan Condal and George R.R. Martin. The showrunners of House of the Dragon are Ryan and Miguel Sapochnik. Together with George and Vince Gerardis, they serve as executive producers.
Six episodes of Game of Thrones, including “The Long Night” and “Battle of the Bastards,” were directed by Miguel, who is notable. When the programme won the 2019 Emmy for Best Drama Series, he was a member of the executive producing team.
