As we approach HOUSE OF THE DRAGON season 2 episode 7, the tension is palpable. There are only two episodes left in this season, and things are getting more intense. The newest trailer gives hints of big changes and even more dramatic fights.
Rhaenys and her dragon, Meleys, were killed in the Battle at Rook’s Rest, which had a big effect. This was terrible news for Queen Rhaenyra and her supporters. The Blacks are under a lot of stress, but they are still in the fight.
In the last episode, Jace and Rhaenyra were planning how to get more dragonriders to join their group. Their goal is to find people with Valyrian blood who can bond with Dragonstone’s riderless dragons, like Vermithor, Silverwing, and Seasmoke.

A surprising event happened at the end of Episode 6. Addam of Hull, the jerk son of Corlys Velaryon, was able to bond with Seasmoke. This makes Rhaenyra’s side stronger, and the episode 7 trailer shows Rhaenyra going up against Addam. He isn’t sure which side he is on, but his ties to Corlys, who is now Hand of the Queen, make it likely that he will support Rhaenyra’s cause.
At the same time, Daemon Targaryen can be seen in Harrenhal talking with Oscar Tully (Archie Barnes), who is now Lord of Riverrun. These partnerships are very important for the Blacks as they try to improve their situation.
In the meantime, Alicent’s situation is still dangerous. Her reluctance to join the growing violence shows how she feels about herself and the conflict’s wider effects. The promo also hints at big changes coming for characters who have been in the background. When these characters show up, the story will take on a new direction and have new parts added to it. Their involvement is sure to bring new conflicts and alliances, adding to the show’s already complex tapestry.
A big change for the Greens is also shown in the promo. Prince Daeron shows up for the first time. He is the youngest son of King Viserys (Paddy Considine) and Alicent (Olivia Cooke). Daeron lives as a ward in Oldtown with his dragon. He and his dragon are a threat to the Hightower host. It is thought by the Small Council that his dragon will make their forces unstoppable, which will lead to even more fierce battles.
Alicent is becoming more worried about what Aemond (Ewan Mitchell) is doing. Aemond also has his allies to rely on. His youngest brother Daeron’s dragon Tessarion is ready for battle.
The next episode is likely to keep up the slow-building tension from episode 6, which is very different from Battle at Rook’s Rest, which was full of action. The trailer shows that Jace and Rhaenyra’s plan will face more problems and possible betrayals as new dragonriders show up and people’s loyalty is put to the test.
Things are changing quickly in the conflict as new dragons and their riders are brought in. As the season comes to a close, we expect both sides to make explosive arguments and smart moves.
