House of the Dragon Season 2 Finale: Who was the Blue Dragon?

In the House of the Dragon Season 2 finale, viewers were introduced to a striking blue dragon. As the Hightower banners made their way to King’s Landing, this very different dragon flew above them. This blue dragon is Tessarion, and the rider is Daeron Targaryen, a character who has been absent from the show until now.

Who is Daeron Targaryen?

King Viserys I and Queen Alicent had four children. Daeron is the fourth, coming after Aegon II, Aemond, and Helaena. Even though he hasn’t been very important in the beginning of the show, his character is very important to the Dance of the Dragons as a whole. There is a story that says Daeron was sent to Oldtown to be raised by his mother’s family, the Hightowers, instead of staying at court.

His dragon, Tessarion, who is also called the Blue Queen, is a great addition to the show’s dragons. Tessarion is one of the most beautiful dragons in the world of Game of Thrones because of her bright blue scales. The dragon’s appearance in the finale shows how strong House Hightower’s military is getting as they get ready to fight Rhaenyra Targaryen’s forces.

Throughout the series, fans have talked about Daeron’s absence. The fact that his character was mentioned and Tessarion was in the season finale make it seem likely that Daeron will play a bigger part in the next season. The showrunners have responded to the concerns about Daeron’s absence by saying that he was always meant to be a part of the story, even though he wasn’t shown in earlier episodes. As George R.R. Martin said in a blog post, Daeron wasn’t written out; he was just left out because of time constraints.

In the last scenes of Season 2, it’s made clear that the Greens need more dragon power. Rhaenyra Targaryen will be in charge of seven dragons by the end of the season. The addition of Daeron and Tessarion helps to keep the balance in this epic battle. The addition of Tessarion not only makes the show more visually stunning, but it also prepares us for Daeron’s arrival in Season 3.

Who plays Daeron Targaryen in House of the Dragon?

As of right now, no actor has been officially cast as Daeron Targaryen. This makes fans even more excited to see who will play this important role. House of the Dragon Season 3 might come out in 2026.
