King Aegon II (Tom Glynn-Carney) is under a lot of pressure to get better quickly. The HBO photo of him in a weak state—bedridden and being cared for by Larys Strong (Matthew Needham)—shows how dangerous things are for the Greens. In a different picture that was released, Aemond (Ewan Mitchell) can be seen talking to Alicent. As Aemond tries to come to terms with the fact that Rhaenyra has strengthened her dragon fleet, the tension is palpable.

Rhaenyra has been having a hard time finding dragon riders. Before the finale, she worked with Addam of Hull (Clinton Liberty), who was able to take charge of Seasmoke. Rhaenyra, with the help of Mysaria (Sonoya Mizuno), realizes that people with Targaryen and Velaryon bloodlines, even if they are not legitimate, might be the key to controlling the powerful dragons Vermithor and Silverwing. At first, he has doubts about his lowborn status. There are many fiery deaths in this dangerous venture, but there are also some successes. Blacksmith Hugh (Kieran Bew) is able to calm Vermithor down, and Ulf (Tom Bennett) rides Silverwing out of the blue. In the finale episode photos Rhaenyra, shown here, is at the head of a table with her most important allies.

In the penultimate episode, Alicent, played by Olivia Cooke, is about to give up. Now that she has been kicked out of the Small Council, she goes to the Kingswood to rest and think. She thinks about ending her life because she feels helpless and worries about the future. Alicent, on the other hand, finds the strength to keep going for now. In one photos, Aemond (Ewan Mitchell) and Helaena (Phia Saban) have a quiet chat.
