In the Grand Finale, your favorite needs your vote! The American Song Contest Qualifying and Semi-Final Rounds are already complete, and the Grand Final is just days away. You may have already decided who you want to win Best Original Song. However, there is one method to assure they win the competition: voting. Here’s all you need to know about voting for the Grand Final, as well as how NBC’s new musical competition series chooses its winner.
First, let’s go through how the American Song Contest works:
The American Song Contest was divided into three rounds over the course of eight weeks:
Five qualifying rounds, each featuring *11 artists: March 21, 28; April 4, 11, 18
There are two semi-final rounds, each with ten artists: April 25, May 2
The Grand Finale, which has ten artists: 9th of May

The 56-person jury (a group of musical specialists representing each U.S. state, territory, or Washington, D.C.) chose one Artist to progress to the Semi-Finals at the end of each Qualifying Round episode. Three additional seats in the Semi-Finals were available, and they were determined by a combination of Jury and fan voting.
“The American Song Contest will adopt a point system in which every state and territory votes with equal authority, regardless of population,” according to a press statement.
The Artists presented “significantly boosted” versions of their tracks once the show reached the Semi-Final rounds. The Jury automatically advanced one Artist to the Grand Final at the end of each program. The last eight finalists who will fight in the Grand Final are determined by America’s votes. Finally, in the final week, fan and jury votes will determine who wins the first American Song Contest Best Original Song award.

The Grand Final will begin voting on Sunday, May 8 at 5 p.m. ET. It ends after the final Artist performs on the May 9 live broadcast. You can vote in three ways as a fan: on the NBC website at asc.vote.nbc.com, on your Android or Apple device’s NBC App, or on TikTok. cheer for your favorite Artist.
