iCarly Season 3 Episode 1 Recap
We see Freddie’s mother Marissa (played by Mary Scheer) cleaning an engagement ring in a unique way – by placing it in her mouth and swirling it around as if it were a fluoride rinse. As the camera zooms in on Freddie’s hand, we see that the ring he’s holding is not his own. With a determined look on his face, he decides that he won’t be offering it to Carly . In a hilarious moment, Freddie bends down to retrieve the ring just as Carly enters the room, creating a comical misunderstanding. In a surprising turn of events, Marissa pops the question to Lewbert (Jeremy Rowley) and he happily accepts. Meanwhile, the love lives of our beloved characters are in flux as Freddie’s girlfriend Pearl (Mia Serafino) enters the scene, prompting Carly to put on a brave face and indulge in some celebratory champagne. It’s been three whole weeks since Carly and Freddie last spoke, an eternity in the world of sitcoms. Three weeks later… In a stunning display of cosmic power, red giants have exploded into supernovas in record time.
The core awkwardness is alleviated by a couple of subplots. In this episode, we see Freddie’s stepdaughter Millicent (played by Jaidyn Triplett) vying for the coveted role of Marissa’s maid of honor. Will she succeed? Tune in to find out. In the second plot point, Carly finds herself in need of a work project. She seeks the help of her manager, Paul (played by Josh Peck), who comes up with a brilliant idea for her to star in a reality show. In this scene, Paul transforms Carly into a glamorous Kardashian with a fake ponytail made from real pony hair. The audience erupts in laughter. In a clever move, she appoints her brother Spencer (Jerry Trainor) as the host and introduces Sunny (Hannah Stocking), the infamous lady who runs a fight club for influencers in season two, as her rival. Paul believes that the true drama will arise when he brings Freddie and Pearl to the set, intending to capture the love triangle on camera for maximum impact.
Paul’s sneaky behavior makes the underlying message crystal clear, creating a chance for Carly and Freddie to address the issue instead of allowing the show’s creators to use it for cheap comedic relief. And thus, they proceed. But, in a crucial turn of events, Millicent is not chosen to be the maid of honor. Instead, she is given the honor of officiating the wedding, and her excitement knows no bounds.
