This year’s event features a slew of record-breaking and incredibly gifted musicians from a variety of musical genres. Sean Combs, also known as Diddy, will host the show this year. He is a two-time BBMA winner.

BTS, the K-pop superstar who has been a fixture at the award event for several years, will be absent this year. Despite receiving the most nominations of any K-pop group at the awards presentation, the seven members will not be there to accept any awards.
Why is BTS not going to the Billboard Music Awards 2022?
BTS members RM, Suga, V, Jin, Jimin, J-Hope, and Jungkook performed a four-day Permission to Dance on Stage performance in Las Vegas in April 2022. They have decided not to return to the city for the BBMA on May 15, as they are preoccupied with the release of their new album. Proof, their next album, will be released on June 10th. They will not attend any award shows until then, and if they win, they will give their victory speech by video.
Who is performing at Billboard Music Awards 2022
In 62 categories, the Billboard Music Awards will honor the year’s most popular musicians. Ed Sheeran, who will be performing from Belfast during his stadium tour, Travis Scott, Becky G, Megan Thee Stallion, Silk Sonic, Morgan Wallen, and other well-known musicians are among the performers. This year, eleven of the sixteen performers have been nominated for multiple prizes. Machine Gun Kelly, Raux Alejandro, Elle King, Miranda Lambert, Latto, Burna Boy, Mary J. Blige, who will receive the Billboard Icon Award, Dan+Shay, Florence+ the Machine, and Maxwell are among the other performers performing in their respective genres.
This year’s BBMAs feature a number of firsts, including Silk Sonic’s first performance following their Grammy victory in four categories, including song and record of the year. It’s also Travis Scott’s first awards show appearance since the Astroworld disaster in Houston in November, when a crowd crush killed 10 people during his concert, and Morgan Wallen’s first since being caught on camera uttering the N-word during a concert in 2021. Maxwell will play “The Lady of My Life,” a Rod Temperton song that was the concluding tune on Michael Jackson’s Thriller when it was released 40 years ago on November 30, 1982.
Anthony Anderson, Anitta, Chloe Bailey, Michael Bublé, Dove Cameron, Dixie D’Amelio, DJ Khaled, Giveon, Tiffany Haddish, Heidi Klum, Liza Koshy, Pusha T, and Teyana Taylor are among the award presenters this year.
According to People, The Weeknd, Doja Cat, and Olivia Rodrigo are in the lead with nominations in 17, 14, and 13 categories, respectively. The chart period for this year’s awards is April 10, 2021, through March 26, 2022. MRC Live and Alternative will produce the BBMAs, with Diddy and Robert Deaton serving as executive producers.
