Is Kathleen Dead in ‘The Last of Us’ Series? What happens to her?
In Episode 5 of “The Last of Us,” Kathleen is murdered in a gruesome manner by a Clicker. As Joel, Ellie, Henry, and Sam make their way out of the suburbs, we get a glimpse of her being torn apart in the process. It’s not hard to understand why Kathleen holds a grudge towards Henry: he betrayed her brother Michael, who was the commander of the Hunters, and turned him up to FEDRA so that he could receive medicine for Sam, who is deaf and suffers from leukemia. Kathleen’s brother Michael was the leader of the Hunters.
Both of these people are bad guys in their own unique way. In order to save his brother, Henry was coerced into doing something that would be considered “bad guy” behaviour, while Kathleen’s grief caused her to become a war criminal. Kathleen is seen earlier in the episode remembering how protected she felt by her brother when they were small, and how he’d want her to forgive Henry; nevertheless, she is unconcerned about this request from him. She demands to know, “Where is the justice in that?” She takes a convoy into the suburbs in an attempt to find Henry, and just as he is about to hand himself over, a truck crashes into a sinkhole, releasing hundreds of infected of varying sizes and types, one of which is a Bloater. Although bloaters aren’t specifically addressed in the series, they do make a few crucial appearances in both of the games. They are the fourth stage of infection, which is also the most hazardous stage. They are exceedingly powerful and have a tendency to charge their adversaries, as they are enormous and covered in so much fungus that it functions like armor. Kathleen is able to corner Henry, but before she can shoot him, she is attacked by a Clicker, which rips her to pieces with its claws and bites. Kathleen is killed.
Is Kathleen Surviving or Dies in the Game?
Before the premiere of the show, there was a great deal of conjecture around Lynskey’s on-screen persona. Fans were understandably curious about how she would fit into the narrative. The character of Kathleen was developed especially for the show. Therefore, it’s not true that she passes away in the game. She doesn’t even exist in it.
