Just John Films Adapting Madame Restell Biography for Screen

Just John Films has officially acquired the rights to Jennifer Wright’s story of Madame Restell, an abortionist in Victorian times. Alice Victoria Winslow, who wrote Netflix‘s “Persuasion” movie, will be in charge of the remake. The book by Hachette, called “Madame Restell: The Life, Death, and Resurrection of Old New York’s Most Fabulous, Fearless, and Infamous Abortionist,” is a New York Times bestseller that tells the amazing story of Madame Restell’s life. She was born in Britain.

The history tells the story of Madame Restell‘s life. She was an amazing woman who became famous and a self-made millionaire in her time. Some guys wanted to control her patients and people who loved her patients. Madame Restell was an innovative businessman who caused trouble in the media and broke the law very clearly. In New York in the 1800s, she had a lot of success by making abortions safe.

The show will follow Madame Restell’s life from the early New York immigrant slums to her fancy mansion on Fifth Avenue and finally to jail and back again. It will talk about the guys she embarrassed and the women (and men) who thought her services were great. The series will show how Madame Restell’s life changed American thought and life forever, set against the background of First Wave Feminism, the Civil War, and the growth of cities.

The show will be made by Amber Anderson, Kate Phillips, and Rosie Day from Just John Films. They were excited to tell Madame Restell’s story to people today, especially since reproductive rights are once again a controversial topic in the United States. Jennifer Wright, who wrote the biography, talked about how excited she was about the project and how Madame Restell’s story shows how the fight for reproductive rights will never stop.

The people working on the adaptation are dedicated to telling Madame Restell’s story with respect and detail, since they see her as a trailblazing figure who has been forgotten by history. The goal of the series is to show how important women’s healthcare rights are, especially in a world where these rights are being threatened more and more.

Just John Films and Alice Victoria Winslow are bringing Madame Restell’s amazing story to the big screen, which will inspire a new generation to fight for women’s right to choose. Stay tuned for more news on this exciting project.
