Justified: City Primeval Episode 3 Recap
Raylan Givens, the Deputy U.S. Marshal, is still looking for Clement Mansell, better known as the “Oklahoma Wildman.” Judge Alvin Guy and his assistant Rose Doyle (Rae Gray) were both killed, and Mansell is the main suspect in their deaths. Mansell’s attorney, Carolyn Wilder (Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor), is adamant about providing him with a fair defense despite the gravity of his offenses. In addition to refusing to press charges against Raylan for assaulting Mansell, she also rejects helping Raylan bring Mansell to justice.
Raylan is unable to establish Mansell’s involvement in the killings, and without Carolyn’s help, he is unable to bring any charges against Mansell and Sandy, his love interest. Following their release, Sandy and Mansell resume their criminal activities and go after Skender, a hot dog vendor with connections to the Albanian mob. When they force him to unlock his safe and all they find inside are weapons, Clement shoots Skender out of rage.
The missing gun is held by Sweety (Vondie Curtis-Hall), a Clement and Sandy collaborator. Clement used it to carry out the killings. He might attempt to use it as leverage to shield himself from punishment. It’s not apparent if Skender is dead or hurt as a result of Clement’s attack. He might be able to identify Clement as the attacker if he lives.
Sandy’s warning regarding the mob’s propensity for expanding blood feuds suggests that whether Skender is dead or not, the Albanian mob will likely seek retribution for Clement’s acts. After Clement finds Raylan’s daughter and hunts her down, Willa, Raylan sends her back to Florida to stay in the safety of her own home. Their relationship is more strained as a result, though.
