Law and Order SVU Season 23 Episode 10 Recap
We saw an American flag, machine gun, and bombs throughout the area, and a man speaking in some sort of podcast explains that people are fighting for their very lives. Then we observe a synagogue being pelted with rocks. A Sikh man leaves a restaurant and walks to his car when he is stabbed numerous times and his turban is ripped off as he falls to the ground by a man on a motorcycle. Molotov cocktails were hurled through a halal restaurant window to continue the destruction. A Hasidic man and his family are thrown onto the street in front of oncoming cars, and his wife is kicked. We next see Benson and Noah exiting the church, and she notices all of the police cars.
The chief contacts her; she hadn’t heard anything because she was on duty; he informs her of the several hate crimes that have just occurred in New York City. Rollins is in the station, staring at the news coverage on television, and says to Fin, “What the heck is happening with people?” This weekend, the FBI informs Benson that there are no credible threats in the region. McGrath sends the crew back out to question as many people as possible. When Rollins and Murphy run into the man with the dog Danica again, he introduces himself as Don Johnson and asks whether they’ve discovered the person yet, to which Rollins responds that they haven’t.
After the man walks away, Murphy claims that everyone who approaches a cop on the street is either insane, lonely, or guilty. Rollins claims to believe he is all three. Fin and Benson are furious because Mcgrath shared the kids’ footage. They obtained some information and, on a hunch, looked up Don Johnson, but that was not his name. Darko Pavik is his name, and he has no priors or licence. Darko’s father died in a building fire when he was 19 years old. His mother and father split, and his mother married a Jewish guy, hence he has ties to Christian nationalists.
Murphy receives a call from Darko, who has been shot and is being transported to the hospital; the assailant is riding a motorcycle. When Rollins visits Darko in the hospital, he persuades him to give her his apartment keys so she can check on Danica. She and Fin go there and pretend to be hunting for the dog’s leash when they discover a bunch of handmade bombs hidden behind a curtain. Fin informs them that they must leave the premises and contact the bomb squad. Aside from the bombs in Darko’s flat, four devices with timers are gone, and Darko remains silent. Murphy and Benson walk inside Darko’s office to chat with him and use Danica to get information from him. AJ and North Star are the names given to them by Darko. He said that the bombs belonged to them, and that they forced him to switch off his phone before all of the attacks and handed him an Excelsis Wireless burner phone.
Finn went there to look for information, and a man strolled into the store, paid cash, and bought five phones while on a motorcycle. They can track when the burner phones were turned on and just before Darko’s phone and another from Antonio Juarez from Ohio were turned off using the burner phones. They track him down, and he tells them where one of the bombs is hidden, but he doesn’t know where the others are. They take Tom Nolan into the station after Antonio hands him up. He is quiet and reserved, yet he does give up his wife just in time. They come upon Susan and the North Star, who has a bomb in his rucksack and threatens to detonate it. Benson kills him by shooting him in the head. Susan expresses her gratitude to Benson for providing the movement with the martyr it so much needed.
