Law & Order: SUV Season 25 Episode 9 Recap
In “Law & Order: SVU” Season 25 Episode 9, the episode starts with a poignant moment between Benson and her son, Noah. At bedtime, Noah suddenly asks about his sister, Maddie, and names William Lewis and Johnny D. What he tells them is that he looked up Benson’s past on Google and knows that Johnny D is her father. Benson is shocked and asks how Noah knows it. Noah says that he looked in the box in her closet, which is probably where Benson puts things that are connected to her past traumas. Benson, who is clearly moved by Noah’s finding, tells him that this is not the right time or place to talk about it. Then Noah asks her to read him a story.
We see two girls, one with a red cap, being picked on by bigger boys in the park. The girl with the red cap is grabbed by one of the boys and dragged away. Benson tells Carisi about Noah’s questions the next day. They talk about Maddie’s case, where the key witness died in jail. A defense attorney would not trust Maddie as a witness because she was drugged while she was being held captive by Benson.
A call comes in about a girl who was found asleep in the park with a belt around her neck. She was naked and almost dead. Benson and his team look into it and find a second victim, Rosie, who is in very bad shape. Four teenage boys are linked to the attack on Rosie by forensics and DNA proof. Sydney, Rosie’s friend, freezes at first and then tries to stop the attack, which leads to her being kidnapped. She is found in a boat cabin at a harbor, where her phone was found. Security film shows that the boys are who they say they are. It’s likely that they knew each other and were waiting in the park for a victim.
Benson tries to negotiate Sydney’s release with one of the kidnappers, Seth, who eventually surrenders. Benson discovers, with devastating effect, that Rosie’s parents have chosen to remove her life support, which has led to her death, as Sydney is saved. Benson is already very upset from what happened when Sydney was saved, so this news hurts him a lot. In a fit of anger and sadness, Benson drives one of the killers, Seth, to the park for what she calls a “forensic reenactment.” She gets angry with him and demands a full explanation while he says sorry. But Benson quickly sees how bad what she did was and tells Velasco to take Seth back to the station, making it clear that she doesn’t want to cross any lines in her quest for justice.
