On Legacies Season 4 Episode 13, “Was This The Monster You Saw?” Hope pays an unexpected visit to the Salvatore School just as her humanity is about to breakthrough, and her reunion with her friends will go down in history. Lizzie continues on her quest, although with ambiguous outcomes. Lizzie and Aurora’s alliance will continue on their quest. Ben expands on his family and takes a step back to discuss his ancestors.

Meanwhile, back at the Salvatore School, Ben and Jed continue to learn more about one other, which causes Jed to fall even deeper in love. The two’s newfound friendship and the blossoming connection is a breath of fresh air, and Fans can’t wait to see how it develops. Jed’s struggle with his emotions is one that many LGBTQ+ individuals face, and it’s amazing to witness it on television. Ben (guest star Zane Phillips) reveals more about his family and its history and Jed (Ben Levin) finds his feelings deepening. Cleo (Omono Okojie) is concerned about her recent changes. Meanwhile, the Salvatore School students come together to celebrate one of their own.

Hope and Lizzie team up to battle Aurora in the episode. Aurora is adamant about withholding information from Hope, prompting the now-Tribreed Hope to remove Aurora’s day-ring in order to burn her on fire with daylight. Back in the Underworld, Alaric, Landon, and Ted, who were previously arguing, drink a lot of whisky shots while debating how to spend their acquired genie’s three wishes. The trio agrees to a magical contract that grants them each one wish. They chose to accept the harsh conditions. Landon made his wish, and he and Ted were transported to Mystic Falls Cemetery, but Alaric was not found. The Jinni appeared to warn them. so Landon feigned to be a ghost in order to communicate with Wade. Alaric isn’t dead, Wade revealed to Landon and Ted. Even though Alaric’s spirit is in limbo, viewers learn that he is still in a coma on Earth. Landon and Ted are then dragged back to limbo by the Ferryman.

Alaric used his wish to resurrect Ted as a Necromancer. Alaric was resurrected by the Necromancer, but Landon remained in Limbo with him. Landon swore to stay and assist Ted in his quest for peace. Hope snatched Aurora in the meantime. Hope tortured Aurora, which Lizzie objected to since she wanted her to kill her or try one of her schemes. Hope refused to assist Lizzie in entering Aurora’s head, treating her as a spoiled brat. Lizzie apologized to Aurora, who mistook Lizzie for her brother Tristan due to her frail health. Hope wasn’t content with only acquiring information, so she constructed a hybrid version of Papa Tunde’s Blade to drill a magical hole into Aurora’s heart. Hope, on the other hand, keeps Aurora alive in order to torture her. Hope warns Lizzie that her humanity is still off when Lizzie names her a monster. Lizzie breaks away from her sired bond with Hope and snaps the Tribreed’s neck as Hope orders her to kill Aurora. After saving Aurora’s life, Lizzie apologizes for abusing her so cruelly. She urges Aurora to join her in her search for the gods who can help her bend time back to a moment where Tristian is still alive, Alaric is healthy, and Hope has not lost her humanity.

Alaric admits he’s used Landon and Ted’s second wish, as they struggle to compose the right wish. Alaric wants Ted to revert to The Necromancer so he can find a spell to resuscitate them all. Landon tells Alaric he’s been lying about Josie, Hope, and Lizzie. The Necromancer decides to bring back merely Alaric, expecting him to flunk the Salvatore School. A gleaming magic ball blasts Alaric’s spirit back into his unconsciousness. So Alaric wished for The Necromancer’s go, but only for him, Landon, and Ted to return to the mortal plane. Landon then assures The Necromancer he’ll do whatever to bring Ted back and help him find peace.
