In the previous episode of NBC‘s Magnum P.I, Magnum and Higgins were looking into the death of a CEO, which had Higgins more concerned than normal about Magnum. It turned out to be the CEO’s partner’s daughter, who was outraged about her father’s affair. Due to the man’s confession, Magnum and Higgins had chosen not to pursue the case. He had confessed to the murder in order to protect his daughter from the killer. Meanwhile, Rick’s younger sister Ruthie came to visit, perhaps because she was getting into trouble and needed his assistance. Rick was taken aback that he was unaware of the fact that she was marrying a woman. But, they reconciled when Rick offered to be the one to lead her down the aisle.
