Full Circle Season 1 Episode 3 Recap
The episode begins the day after Nicky Henriksen (Lucian Zane) was mistakenly seized by those sent to kidnap Jared Browne (Ethan Stoddard) but instead grabbed Nicky Henriksen. A multi-agency task force, including the astute postal inspector Melody Harmony (Zazie Beetz), is established to investigate after the NYPD received reports of a gunshot in the park.
One of the initial discoveries is that Derek Browne (Timothy Olyphant), Jared’s father, had an affair with Charisse and that Nicky is actually his hidden, illegitimate son. This information becomes known at the same time as Sam, Jared’s mother, has suspicions that Derek is concealing more than simply the failed kidnapping attempt. It turns out that Charisse is not the enigmatic character that everyone initially believed her to be, but rather a woman who had a brief connection with Derek that led to the birth of Nicky. Sam is hiding information, though, about her ancestors’ prior participation in a shady deal in Guyana.
Team Kidnapper encounters its own set of difficulties as the inquiry moves on. They failed to carry out their strategy effectively because they kidnapped the wrong child. In addition, Garmen, the consigliere of the abduction conspirator Mrs.Savitri Mahabir (CCH Pounder), owes a casino a sizable sum of money, raising questions about whether the kidnapping was in part planned to utilize the casino’s funds to settle Garmen’s debts.
Tensions develop between the team when Natalia disappears, caring for “Jared” in a hotel room as he heals from a partially severed ear (not finger, as was initially believed). Louis intends to kidnap Jared (Ethan Stoddard) once more and demand a ransom from his family in order to get himself, Natalia, and Xavier a ticket to Guyana. Natalia advises asking Mrs. Mahabir’s adversary Edward Chung for help.
Aked, Viktor, and Paul, Xavier’s supervisors, summon him to a conference and suspect Louis and Natalia of being the informants rather than the victim of the previous night’s murder. Aked starts to wonder about the whole thing after realizing that the body that was buried was not Jared’s.
Despite having a rather irritating temperament, Melody Harmony, the postal inspector, stands out for her professionalism in her work. Sam’s prior involvement in her family’s dirty business is revealed, and Derek’s shame and preoccupation with the thought of unintentionally disrupting the ransom dropoff give him more depth as a character.
