‘Mayor of Kingstown’ Season 2 Episode 5 Recap

At the office, Mike worries about the inmates who were taken out of Tent City overnight. Rebecca (Nichole Galicia) ends up getting a meeting with Mike first. Mike reassures Bunny’s cousin Rhonda (Nona Parker Johnson) that he did not lose Bunny and that the animal is still alive and well in the system. Rhonda confronts Mike on his lies, and he is finally forced to acknowledge that he has no idea where Bunny is right now. He has admitted that the inmates were sent to four other facilities. After one inmate has been shoved off the second floor and dies, the inmates are tense. Bunny (Tobi Bamtefa) watches from prison. He quietly sits on his bed. Since Mike hasn’t paid, he’s considering his alternatives. During their conversation, Carney observes Dedrick, the leader of the Bloods (played by Marcus Brandon), and Gunner, Aryan. Mike sends Carney in search of Bunny.

On the other hand, Horace’s wife is scrambling to get out of there before Milo’s men arrive. Before she can escape, however, Joseph and his goons batter through the door. She insists she’s free. Mike tells Ian, Stevie, and Kyle that Milo survived and is coming for the bonds. After Horace sought fencing help from Joseph. Mike is certain Milo ordered his assassination. Horace’s wife brought him and the kids to the police station, but Stevie says he didn’t register them.  Following the conclusion of the discussion, Kyle believes that he and Mike should make rescuing Bunny from jail and restoring order in Kingstown their top priority. At Anchor Bay, Bunny scans the crowd. He recognizes Big Hush and asks about his group. Next, Bunny has a chat with Raphael (D Smoke), The four generals appear to have arrived instead at Anchor. Bunny thinks Mike is responsible for keeping everyone together to plan.  Raphael explains that the guards are on the side of the Aryan. One of the detainees faints as they’re having this conversation. In the meantime, Carney notices Bunny.

At the same time, Kyle receives word that he is fit for service. Kyle’s wife Tracy (Nishi Munshi) is concerned. When he inquires as to Tracy’s expectations, she lets out that she doesn’t believe he’s prepared to return to the workforce just yet.  Mike is called to a crime scene by Ian and Stevie. Mike is confident that Horace’s wife made a final statement before being hung by a metal chain and dying. Ian and Stevie have decided that the safest place for the bonds is the police station’s holding cell. Mike, though, disagrees. The four leaders are gathered at Anchor Bay and taken inside for a meeting. Captain Moore (Michael Beach) charge of them. Luis (Reinaldo Faberlle), the Mexican gang leader, declares Mike dead when he leaves. They must operate as they did before Mike imprisoned them. Carney stops Moore on his way out of the office. Carney tells him the man is one of the three inmates Moore brutally attacked after the prison riot. At night, Carney tracks out Bunny and sets up a phone call for him to have with Mike. However, they are abruptly interrupted by the other guards. Mike goes to see Bunny in jail the next day and breaks the news that the Generals no longer have faith in him. Therefore, Bunny is contemplating going it alone, which could threaten Mike’s arrangement with the District Attorney’s Office.

Mike visits Bunny in prison near the end of the episode. However, they were unable to buy Mike any more time with their chat. Bunny seems to be suggesting that things are about to spiral out of control for Mike. Bunny, too, is eager to take action independently. But once Bunny’s talk with Carney is done, Carney returns him to his cell. The new facility’s security officers, however, are quick to intercept them. Carney is being pressured to give up Bunny, but he refuses. Guards still harass Carney and remove Bunny from him by force. Guards later battered Bunny before putting him in solidarity detention. Carney tells Mike what’s going on, so the mayor can’t escape prison. Inside the prison, Big Hush plans Luis’s murder. Big Hush lights Luis on fire when he is incarcerated. Before the guards at the prison can save Luis, his cell is set on fire. Mike sees smoke rising from the prison as the episode concludes. The way the story ends makes it seem like Luis was murdered for trying to cause a power struggle in the new prison.
